🌊 Help Shape Buloke Shire's Future Flood Preparedness

Buloke Shire Council is undertaking a Flood Study to improve flood mapping, planning tools and flood management outcomes across the municipality.

Your local knowledge matters. Residents are encouraged to attend an upcoming community information session to share their experiences and insights about flood events in their area.

The study will help improve understanding of flood behaviour across Buloke Shire, supporting future flood preparedness, emergency planning and community resilience.

Key outcomes include:
✅ Updated flood studies and management plans
✅ Flood modelling, including climate change scenarios
✅ Assessment of flood risk reduction options
✅ Review of flood mitigation infrastructure
✅ Updates to flood warning and emergency management plans

It’s wet!! ☔️ I can’t believe how wet it is actually.
With a few site inspections today, I had covered a few km’s 🚙 and crossed a few rivers and waterways - all of which varied from being classed as ‘inundation’, ‘minor’ and ‘moderate’ flooding. And the Avoca River, which is just down the road, is still rising. ⬆️

🙋🏻‍♀️ Did you know that waterways and wetlands are one of many considerations of the planning scheme when assessing a planning application? 🤔

Please take care out there during this flooding event, and in the weeks to come (I just had a look at the forecast… it’s going to get wet .. again) ☔️

NEWS: The Minister for Energy and Resources has formally declared five renewable energy zones in regional Victoria - North West, South West, Central Highlands, Western and Gippsland. It also includes Gippsland Shoreline REZ, which will host underground cables connecting offshore wind energy to the grid.

Hi there 👋

I thought it was time to re-introduce myself 😬

I'm Jodie Senior and it has been 5 years and 5 months since I left a long-term full-time job in the middle of the Covid pandemic and commenced my town planning consultancy business from my lounge room in Stawell. What the hell was I thinking?! 🤪

A few years later I decided to relocate back to my hometown of Wycheproof. Why here? 🤔 Well, that is a very long story. And, as the saying goes - long story short - I was born and raised here, I moved away for work (for over 30 years), and I came back 'home'.

But during this time, my business has taken me to towns and places that I had never been before, and I have met a lot of wonderful people along the way. I have also helped a lot of clients achieve their goals and build their dreams 🙌

Today, I’d like to thank those who have supported me along my journey (which has been a little rough at times) and given me the opportunity to help them👍
