This was a good job for API and a great result for the homeowner.
The home owners brief was to create more usable space poolside.
In its original form, the area around the pool, within the fenced area was quite small and unusable. Where there was some space, it was either taken up by the existing pool equipment or was a narrow low set grassed area, nowhere to really have a sit down and watch the kids have a swim or just chill by the pool.
There was plenty to do here including:
- drain pool to allow the removal of old equipment and plumbing and then the re-install all new equipment and plumbing in new location.
-form an all new concrete surround and made it wider to create a more usable area around pool. The pool fence was moved back to allow this. A new slab was poured at the new equipment location as well. The concrete was an exposed aggregate to match the front driveway.
- all new equipment was installed, the pool was re-filled, started up and handed over.
The pool now is crystal clear, easy to maintain with good access to all the new equipment and plenty of usable space. Good result.

Hi all, yes it's been a long time in-between posts again but here is a nice pool/spa equipment relocation and tidy up at Norman Park in Brisbane.
The pool and spas equipment was separate and originally plumbed in an over complicated way, under a low deck which made servicing very difficult, and to make things worse it was all supposed to be automated by a PLC control system which again was over complicated and out of date. Needless to say the pool and spa suffered and was hard to maintain.
The owner and I decided to simplify the equipment and make it more accessible, this meant a new equipment slab was put down in an easier to get at location and a combined pool and spa equipment package installed. We also installed a separate water feature pump with a re-circ system on it to control the flow over the water feature, and to allow the water feature to be operated independently of the filtration equipment.
Almost all of the original equipment was deleted except for the heatpump and the valve actuators.
The end result is a neat, easy to get to and much simpler pool and spa system that anyone can get to service.
