It's winter in the Yarra Valley, which means the vines are dormant and the vineyard team is deep into pruning. Not the most visible part of the calendar, but one of the most important.

Chief Winemaker Peter Mackey has spent over three decades making these calls – where to cut, how hard to prune, what each block needs to deliver the right fruit come harvest. Decisions made now shape yield, canopy structure and next year's vintage.

Winemaking doesn't start at harvest. It starts months earlier, in the cold.

This site-led approach extends to every contract winemaking client we work with – no house style, just block-by-block decisions made with the same care we apply to our own fruit.
