We are pleased to announce that Irsen Pak, Deal Advisory Associate Director at KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA), will speak at the upcoming Investment and Partnership Forum: “Green Energy Corridor – From Feasibility Study to Implementation.”

The Forum will present the key technical, economic and commercial findings of the Feasibility Study and support the project’s preparation for the Final Investment Decision (FID), bringing together prospective investors, lenders, off-takers and strategic partners.

Irsen will speak at the “Risk, Insurance and Bankability” session, focusing on project risk allocation, insurance solutions, lender requirements and measures to strengthen the project’s bankability.

On October 16, KPMG participated in “reTHINK RISK beyond the boundaries,” the ABB Risk Forum 2026, organized by ABB Bank. The forum brought together senior risk professionals, financial sector leaders, regulators, and international experts to exchange insights and perspectives on the evolving risk landscape.

Mateusz Kuzioła, Associate Partner and Head of Banking at KPMG Poland, delivered a presentation titled “Emerging Risks: Risk Management in Turbulent Times”. Drawing on his expertise in banking and risk management, he discussed different types of emerging risks, major global uncertainty events and their impact on financial markets, and key considerations for effective emerging risk management.

KPMG was also represented at the forum by Tomasz Kolodziejczyk, Associate Partner and Risk & Finance Advisory Leader at KPMG Poland; Roman Lesnikov, Director, Financial Services at KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia; and Anuar Nurakhmetov, Director of Technology Consulting at KPMG Azerbaijan.

The forum brought together over 150 representatives from across the financial services sector to discuss emerging risks, geopolitical and macroeconomic developments, regulatory changes, AI, fraud, cyber threats, and operational resilience, exploring ways to strengthen resilience in an increasingly uncertain world.

We are pleased to share that Laman Mirzayeva (Sadigli), Associate Manager at KPMG Law Azerbaijan, recently participated as a speaker at the Humboldt Dispute Resolution Conference 2026 – “Changing Tides of International Arbitration” in Berlin, Germany.
As part of the panel “From Classroom to Tribunal: Law Firms’ Use of AI and New Associates,” Laman joined a discussion on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in legal practice, professional judgment, and the development of the next generation of lawyers.
Drawing on her experience as an Azerbaijani-qualified lawyer and IDR alumna, Laman shared her perspective on AI’s potential to broaden access to legal research in jurisdictions such as Azerbaijan, while highlighting the continued importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and independent professional judgment when using AI in legal work.

🏛️ KPMG Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) was pleased to have supported ABB Bank (International Bank of Azerbaijan) on its acquisition of a 51% stake in Davr Bank, one of Uzbekistan’s growing commercial banks. The transaction marked an important step in ABB Bank’s geographic expansion strategy and further strengthened economic and financial ties between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Working alongside ABB Bank’s legal, finance and business teams, KPMG CCA supported key phases of the transaction by providing market research, due diligence, transaction support and legal advisory services. KPMG CCA’s multidisciplinary team assisted with target bank screening and market research, financial, tax, legal, IT and compliance due diligence, transaction structuring and negotiations, review of transaction documentation, as well as assistance with obtaining the required regulatory approvals.

👥 The project brought together professionals from KPMG CCA’s Investments and Capital Markets, Legal, Tax, Technology and Risk practices and reflected the multidisciplinary nature of cross-border transactions in the financial services sector.
