Savalan Wine Tour

Savalan Wine Tour These ripe, abundant grapes are then collected and handled with care and love before being transformed by the apparent magic of a master into wine.

Imagine pure, crystal-clear water cascading down from the great Caucasus Mountains, winding its way through the lavish land in the foothills of the valley and suffusing the sun-bathed vines. This is what happens every year in the Savalan valley, at the vineyards of ASPI AGRO. ASPİ -AGRO was founded in 2007, focused on growing grapes and producing high quality wines. The slogan for this venture was

“Quality - like a tradition, wine – like an art!” The original concept was to revive the glorious winemaking traditions in the area where viticulture was once a thriving industry in the Savalan valley of the Gabala region. At the vinery museum, you can see huge ancient wine jugs discovered right in the vineyards themselves while the soil was getting ready to adopt its first seedlings. Now, on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus ridge and in unique climatic conditions there exists 350 hectare vineyards where 22 wine grape varieties and 12 table grape varieties are grown including, but not limited to Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Alicante Bouchet, Cabenet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Riesling, Moscato White, Aleatico, Traminer and Verdejo. Most are the yield of seedlings from leading companies like Italy's Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo VCR and France’s Gontard Freres. The vines grows 400 meters above sea level, surrounded by the river, where the average temperature, the amount of precipitation and daily and annual ratio of sunshine hours consummately combine integrate with each other and create the most favourable conditions for growing grapes. Nowadays a large vinery, very state-of-the-art from a technological point of view, is used to create unique wines in the best traditions of international quality. The products are constantly tested at the most advanced plant laboratory and are stored inside high-quality oak barrels produced in France and İtaly. Our cellar is our pride and joy, a place where oak barrels give the majority of wines a distinctive body, which can turn an ordinary drink into a fine wine. There is a view that the word “wine” originates from a Sanskrit word, “vena” with the meaning “to love”. Whatever the truth, we have not seen a better description so far. Our wines are produced under the guidance of our highly qualified Italian enologists, Dr. Daniel D'Andrea and Mrs. Elisa Vagnoni. Our team of winemakers are a close-knit international group of like-minded people dedicated to their business and are knowledgeable experts in the quality of real wine and grapes. The love of the art of making wine united and brought together two sunny and generous countries - Azerbaijan and İtaly.
