Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
Te**is Security Systems have resumed and I trust that you and your families are well during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have good news to share with you, but first and foremost let me thank all the front line workers here and around the world for the wonderful job they have been doing and the love, care and attention exhibited during these trying times.
We do owe you guys a great debt of gratitude for keeping us safe. I am not a political person but I must give credit where it is due so I want to thank our government and the leadership for the foresight, wisdom, policies and procedures they have put in place that have resulted in keeping the citizens of this country safe so far. It would be reminisce not to offer my condolences to the families and friends of those who have passed away due to Covid-19 complications here and abroad.
Te**is Security Systems have recently been accredited by the Barbados Accreditation Council and I want to inform you that when you have completed a course of study with us you will be issued with a certificate which will be recognized any part of the world but we are not stopping there. Te**is Security Systems is currently in negotiations with the TVET Council in becoming a centre which will offer Security Officers the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), updates regarding this announcement will come in the near future.
In the coming days Te**is Security Systems will embark on some announcements regarding course initiatives which will enable members of the Security Officers community to gain valuable knowledge in security policies and procedures.
In some quarters there might be push backs but, if you are or were paying close attention to what is going on in and around you, the Chairman of the Caribbean Association of Security Professional Mr. Oral Reid in an article published in Barbados Today dated April 24th, 2020 and it states, “The days of indiscriminate hiring of people to work as private security officers are to end. Mr. Reid said his organization is waiting on Government to implement the new regulation which would require all private security to be properly trained.
Private Security Officers will reach that stage when we would have every private security officer trained. As a matter of fact, not only trained but selected on the basis of set criteria,” he revealed.
The CASP head said his association has already discussed the pending regulations extensively among its members and with the Ministry of Defense and Security.
He told Barbados TODAY: “We strongly believe they ought to be a set prerequisite for enlistment for private security. We have had the opportunity to discuss this at the highest level; we are awaiting the implementation of that request where only persons who are trained to a maximum of 60 hours and have been successful and shown themselves to be competent, should first be hired as private security officers.”
Ladies and gentlemen this is a chance for you to be trained and not be caught napping, you will be hearing from the management of Te**is Security Systems in the coming days.
Thank you and stay safe.
