Face to Face Teaching Protocols

Here at REA Envirohealth International, we have implemented protocols to safeguard you and ourselves if you choose to pursue a course of study with us. Therefore, please see the following protocols and guidelines being instituted at this company.

GENERAL
i. High touch/high traffic areas/surfaces and our Training Room are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised before each class session begins.
ii. Sanitiser must be used upon entering the office. (Hand washing is also possible if persons prefer this method of sanitising.) Persons will proceed directly to the Training Room while trying to avoid touching surfaces unnecessarily. Doors to the Training Room will remain open.
iii. Our office is located in a tenanted building; therefore there are shared facilities, such as the sanitary conveniences, and persons are asked to be cautious when touching door handles and water faucets.
iv. Suitable disinfectants would be available for use when visiting the shared sanitary conveniences. Care MUST be taken not to contaminate the outer surfaces of our disinfectant containers.
v. Proper respiratory hygiene is encouraged i.e. cover mouths and noses and cough or sneeze into a tissue or the bent elbow and immediately discard the used tissues in a bin and perform hand hygiene.
vi. If a learner or someone in his/her household is ill, he/she must not attend classes.

WEARING OF MASKS
vii. Wearing of masks is MANDATORY and is expected to be worn throughout the duration of the class period/training sessions. This is necessary as seating in our Training Room is three feet apart. There will be designated MASK BREAKS (to be determined on class/session days).
viii. Masks should not be worn for more than four hours at time.
ix. Persons are required to be knowledgeable about the Do’s and Don’ts of mask wearing (e.g. not fiddling with the mask especially the front, proper removal if needed, etc).
x. The Tutor would be wearing a mask throughout the duration of the class. Any other member of staff, who may be present at the time of the lesson, would also be wearing a mask.

EXAMINATION DAY (where applicable)
xi. Any in-person examinations would be held in an area where learners will be comfortably seated with adequate physical distancing so that wearing of masks is not MANDATORY during the examination.
xii. All other protocols remain the same i.e. sanitisation upon entry to examination room; sanitisation upon exit; masks to be donned upon entry and exit; etc.
xiii. Any material to be used by a learner (e.g. pencil, pen, etc) will be sanitised (where practical) before given.

These protocols will be reviewed and updated as necessary based on guidelines by the Ministry of Health.

REA Envirohealth Consultants performs water testing in order to improve water quality. The processes employed for water treatment depends on the quality of the water supply. In all cases, water has to be disinfected in order to deactivate any existing microorganisms present in water. Water treatment is commonly done using chlorine or chlorine dioxide, and in many cases, other processes are also used such as ozonation and ultraviolet irradiation.

There are basic qualitative observations that quickly determine if water is not safe to consume. However, there are also many “invisible” substances that must be tested professionally to identify the contaminants and figure out how the specific polluted water can be purified. Testing can be done in the field with portable test kits or mobile laboratories. Water samples can also be collected and sent to a professional laboratory.

What is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)?

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is the air quality within and around buildings and structures. IAQ is known to affect the health, comfort and well-being of building occupants. Poor indoor air quality has been linked to Sick Building Syndrome, reduced productivity and impaired learning in schools.

IAQ can be affected by gases (including carbon monoxide, radon, volatile organic compounds), particulates, microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), or any mass or energy stressor that can induce adverse health conditions. Source control, filtration and the use of ventilation to dilute contaminants are the primary methods for improving indoor air quality in most buildings. Residential units can further improve indoor air quality by routine cleaning of carpets and area rugs.

Determination of IAQ involves the collection of air samples, monitoring human exposure to pollutants, collection of samples on building surfaces, and computer modelling of air flow inside buildings.
