The Rural Festival, under the theme “Linking Communities Together”, is scheduled to be held on Saturday July 18th, from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m, Glebe Pasture, Glebe, St. George.
FREE to the general public, the Rural Festival is the only one in rural Barbados to focus on a combination of Barbadian potpourri, music, a mini theatre, beautiful art, sports, locally designed crafts, book fair, poetry, Barbadian flavors, and the performing arts, making it great family entertainment, also at the festival would be a cook off challenge entitled “Grill Chicken Rural Delight”
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
A GLIMPSE OF BARBADOS:
A Glimpse of Barbados is the showcasing of art, by our local Artists a sector which is neglected, artists will work within the art pavilion creating art as attendees view exhibits on show.
CRAFT:
Craft designers would have the opportunity to highlighting their products to the general public, this sector is proving to be a very dynamic group and any additional marketing or promoting can only argue will for the industry.
SPORTS:
A Football game will be organized by the Football Associations.
FASHION FUSION:
Here you will find Fashion designers showcasing their summer line leading up to Crop Over.
CALYPSO & SOCA ZONE:
The Soca Zone is designed for entertainers to meet and interact with the general public, getting up-close with fans, each entertainer will be given a table to showcase their CD’s and DVD’s to the public to generate some much needed income.
PAN ON THE GREEN:
Pan and culture goes hand in hand and to leave the sweet sound of pan out of the festival would mean that it is incomplete. We have no doubt that the growing number of pan enthusiast would welcome this activity.
CHILDREN’S ZONE:
This area would be where kids can have a learning experience along with exciting games and storytelling.
