Today, we pause to honour a woman whose compassion, courage and unwavering dedication touched countless lives across Barbados.

Janette โ€œJanโ€ Lynton transformed personal tragedy into a legacy of hope, founding Cancer Support Services and ensuring that thousands of Barbadians facing cancer never had to walk their journey alone.

We join the nation in mourning her passing and celebrating a life defined by service, kindness and advocacy. Her contributions will continue to inspire generations to come.

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to her family, friends, colleagues and all those whose lives were enriched by her remarkable work.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Rest in peace, Jan Lynton. Your legacy lives on.

๐Ÿ’œ Beyond Awareness. Into Action.

On this World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we are calling on every Barbadian to do more than recognise the issue - we must work together to prevent it.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including financial exploitation, emotional abuse, neglect, abandonment, and physical violence. Too often, it happens in silence, affecting some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

As President Marilyn Rice-Bowen reminds us, legislation alone is not enough. Protecting seniors requires vigilance, compassion, accountability, and a collective commitment to speaking up when something is wrong.

To every senior: you are seen, you are valued, and you deserve protection.

To every Barbadian: if you see it, say something. If you suspect it, report it. Together, we can help create a safer, more respectful society for our seniors.
