Argo Development Studio’s Málaga Office Studio Leader Rodrigo Carreño Alcántara recently attended the 5th Annual Meeting of BIM Users Andalucía, organized by guBIMand Grupo Usuarios BIM Andalucia, where key topics shaping the future of our industry were discussed.

Events like this are essential for ARGO. They allow us to stay up to date with the latest developments in BIM, continuously improving our processes to deliver more efficient, cost-effective solutions while minimizing issues on site.

Among the highlights were discussions on the growing role of industrialized construction and its feasibility through BIM methodologies, as well as the integration of BIM into the planning sector to streamline permitting processes and improve timelines.

Beyond the insightful sessions, the event also provided a great opportunity to connect with fellow BIM professionals and share experiences with colleagues who are equally passionate about innovation in our field.

Argo Development Studio’s Málaga Office Studio Leader Rodrigo Carreño Alcántara and ARGO’s Dublin Office Project Architect Isabel del Mar Benítez Toledo recently attended the ###II Porcelanosa International Exhibition in Spain, an important industry event showcasing the latest innovations in architecture and interior design.

During the visit, they explored new collections and solutions from XTONE | Porcelanosa Grupo, Gamadecor | Porcelanosa Kitchens and butech | Porcelanosa Grupo, showcasing natural stone ranges, façade systems, pools, stair solutions, decorative mosaics, kitchens, and technical solutions.

It was a great opportunity to discover new products, learn about the latest developments in the sector, and gain inspiration from the wide range of design possibilities on display.

The Undora | Porcelanosa Grupo Collection is one of the most innovative interior finish systems we’ve come across at the exhibition. It combines recycled marble dust with a water-based resin to create an ultra-thin 8 mm panel ideal for decorative interior applications.

Another system that stood out to us is Porcelanosa's prefabricated bathroom modules. Each bathroom is completely manufactured in a controlled factory environment and then assembled on site, increasing construction efficiency and helping to reduce project costs.

Last week, Architect Fabiola López González from our ARGO Málaga Office was invited to attend the ‘Malaga Architecture and Interior Design Networking’ event organized by Grupo Vía and sponsored by Renson, Delabie, La Maison Walls, Manuel Larraga, and Bio Design.

It was an inspiring experience to exchange ideas and discover products that are redefining how we design spaces. Two solutions particularly caught our eye for their technical excellence:

: Their advanced climate control systems stood out for their technical precision. We closely examined their natural ventilation and solar shading solutions, which offer exceptionally constructive details for improving building efficiency.

From Dublin to Barbados

Originally from Dublin where he worked with us full time since 2018, is an Architectural Technologist based in our Barbados office after taking the opportunity to work in the Caribbean as part of an international experience programme between offices at Development Studio. In his job, he provides technical expertise and detailed solutions throughout the design development stage. With so much of ARGO’s work informed by digital construction, he uses construction technology to bridge the gap between design concepts and project delivery. With so many numbers and calculations a part of the job, according to Ameen, he’s never happier than when he’s “figuring things out”, and he works collaboratively on a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments.

In terms of what aspects he enjoys most about the role, it’s simple. To quote him: “It’s acting as part of a team bridging architecture, the environment and climate intelligence to deliver design excellence, enhanced wellbeing and long-term resilience.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Hot in Dominica……

Dominica in the Caribbean is often called "The Nature Island" because of its lush rainforests, waterfalls, and hot springs. The island is also home to another Argo Development Studio office headed by Studio Leader Antonio Rodriguez Toledo.

Comprising stacked cargo containers that have been re-purposed into a workspace over two levels, with a great café downstairs.

As the place of work for Antonio and his architectural colleagues, this office is a perfect example of the possibilities of working internationally and across many time zones and architectural styles.

Originally from Cuba, Antonio is a central part of the daily management and coordination that happens between teams. Indeed, it’s this that he cites as one of his favourite parts of the job. No day is ever the same as he and his team move between considering the latest, final phase work on Secret Bay, the six-star, all villa resort in Dominica, to collaborating with ARGO offices in Europe and Barbados on the Mandarin Oriental Grand Caymen development, and much more.

As Studio Leader at ARGO Dominica, client management, project delivery, team performance, and budget planning are daily elements of his job.

Asked to sum up how he sees the job, Antonio says: “We’re all different people with different styles but the SAME goals.”

Money Talks

Meet Anna Kovalenko our Finance Manager and a very busy person at Argo Development Studio.

With a team of more than 40 professionals employed within the practice across multiple territories and working on projects with a value of over $1 billion currently on site, Anna is responsible for financial oversight for the ARGO Group of companies – that’s everything from development of accounting policies and procedures, financial projections and budget management in addition to technical accounting support to the individual offices within the ARGO Group.

Anna manages everything from her base in Houston, Texas. So, what’s the secret to efficiently managing complex challenges and opportunities?

Anna always says that communication is the key to ensuring that all the moving parts are working smoothly. Weekly meetings, resource allocations, senior management meetings, one to one catch ups with our office leads are essential in consistent financial reporting.

Currently high on her list of priorities is the implementation and management of a new ERP system that will align accounting systems across all offices, time zones and currencies.

With a Master’s Degree in Mathematics, ACCA certified, and experience including six years auditing with PwC working on one of the biggest projects in Europe at that time, Anna provides the senior level experience appreciated by both myself, ARGO colleagues and clients.

Our People Person

To describe Teressia Bruce as a powerhouse is an understatement. Not only does she head up and manage daily operations at the Argo Development Studio office in St Vincent and the Grenadines, she is also our international HR Manager. Teressia is a certified Professional in Human Resources International (PHRi) after recently gaining the professional HR certification from the globally recognized Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).

Her HR remit is wide-ranging – literally. Across continents and Islands, Teressia works with me managing key areas like talent acquisition, employee development, and creating a positive work environment. Managing performance, developing training programs, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering a diverse and inclusive culture are part and parcel of what she does. And when you bear in mind two factors that make us a standout.

Firstly, ARGO is a company where our team of 40+ experts comprises 16 different nationalities with diverse backgrounds and experience, it’s what Teressia calls “a real melting pot of talent.” Teressia also

ARGO’s Climate Intelligence Unit (CIU) is a team within Argo Development Studio, leading the drive to climate-positive construction by 2030, something we’re very committed to as a practice

The Unit is led by Asli Nur Timur Yordanov, a registered Architect and Sustainability Consultant who has an MSc in Building and Architectural Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and is a LEED Accredited Professional and One Click Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Certified.

Asli's international project experience includes work in Turkey, Italy, Japan, Ireland, and the Caribbean.

At ARGO, Asli’s role is multi-faceted across many geographies and time zones. From her base in Milan, Italy and working across ARGO’s seven international offices across the Caribbean, Europe and the US, she coordinates design teams to integrate location-specific climate strategies, set sustainability goals and deliver tailored sustainable design solutions that meet the unique needs of each project. It’s a vital role as each jurisdiction we work in may have different regulatory standards and Asli ensures that we meet those on every occasion.

When Style Meets a Warm Welcome

Apart from the physical design of a building, one of the first elements that makes an impression are its interiors. Setting the tone for the experience that’s about to follow is down to the Look. That’s why advice from ARGO Development Studio Interior Design Director Diane Earley is a critical guiding factor in project success.

Diane’s approach to interiors is one that really appeals to us. With more than twenty years in Travel Retail, she shapes distinctive environments across international markets.

At ARGO, she leads the firm’s interior design direction, working closely with clients and project teams to shape spaces that are budget considerate, thoughtful, engaging, and aligned with evolving market expectations.

Based in Miami, she's currently consulting on projects including our work for their beachfront resort and residences located along the southern shore of Grand Cayman (See images attached).

Diane believes that, insofar as possible, creating a “Home from Home” feeling is an important element in enjoying any space. So, it’s no surprise that she believes that, in many instances, a blend of old and new materials works well to create an immediate sense of distinctiveness and welcome.

Other factors such as location, climate and sustainability inform the look of a space while effective communications between our client design teams and ourselves keep everyone informed, updated and agreed on the direction we’re taking.

Winning Conservation

Our Barnhill Road, Dalkey Forge - Ireland project has won the Contractor Conservation Project of the Year at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2025 (and was also shortlisted for Contractor Residential Project of the Year (Over €5m)

Dalkey Forge is a residential development which involved the conservation, refurbishment and adaptive reuse of existing buildings along with the construction of three new detached houses. The site included a former Blacksmith's Forge, an attached house, and a former School
This recognition celebrates the hard work, craftsmanship, and innovation of the entire project team.
