This post is long overdue.
More than a year ago, I made the quiet decision to close B. Doza & Company, a business I inherited from my father, and which stood for over four decades at Chittagong Port.
I shared it with my LinkedIn network at the time but never got around to telling you here. That felt wrong. So here it is.
The customs clearance sector in Bangladesh made it increasingly difficult to operate with integrity. Corruption, bureaucratic inefficiency, and resistance to ethical standards left little room for honest professionals, at the office and at the customs house alike.
On a personal level, this chapter took a greater mental toll than I ever anticipated. I faced challenges from within that I never saw coming, challenges that tested not just the business, but my faith in the people I trusted most.
It brought me to a decision I should have made the day my late father, the founder of this company, passed.
Some businesses are so tied to their founders that they are meant to conclude with them. B. Doza & Company, I decided, had to be one of them.
Walking away from a path misaligned with my ethics is not failure. It is freedom.
