Career Guidance Session | Turning Learning into Opportunity 🎓

As part of the Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy, TriRE : ত্রিরি organized a dedicated Career Guidance Session facilitated by Gazi Wafa Akbar, Lecturer, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, USTC & Assistant Adviser of SWA.

The session focused on helping students look beyond their university studies and think more intentionally about their career, skills, research, higher education, and professional development.

💡 Career is more than a destination

Participants were encouraged to think about where they want to go, what skills they need to develop, and how they can prepare themselves for future opportunities.

🔬 Research & Higher Education

The session highlighted the importance of continuous learning, exploring research opportunities, and making informed decisions about higher education and professional pathways.

🚀 Building Yourself for the Future

Students were encouraged to identify their strengths, develop relevant skills, remain curious, and actively seek opportunities that can contribute to their personal and professional growth.

The interactive session added an important dimension to the workshop by connecting sustainability, learning, skills, and future career opportunities.

The session was part of TriRE’s Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy, held at University of Science and Technology Chittagong- USTC on 18 August 2026, bringing together students from different departments for learning, practical activities, and youth-led sustainability action.

Hands-on Upcycling Workshop | Learning by Creating ♻️

As part of the Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy, TriRE conducted an interactive Hands-on Upcycling Workshop facilitated by Afroze Anwar, Production Lead & Designer, TriRE and student of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, USTC.

The session gave participants an opportunity to move from understanding upcycling to actually practicing it. Instead of simply discussing textile waste, participants explored how discarded materials, particularly used denim and textiles can be given a new purpose and value through creativity and practical skills.

🧵 From discarded textile to useful product

Participants engaged in practical upcycling activities and experienced how simple ideas, materials, and creativity can come together to create something new.

💡 Learning by doing

The hands-on approach encouraged participants to experiment, work together, ask questions, and understand that sustainable practices can be both creative and practical.

🌱 Beyond waste management

The session demonstrated how upcycling can contribute to resource conservation, responsible consumption, entrepreneurship, and a circular economy.

Circular Economy & Entrepreneurship | Turning Waste into Opportunity ♻️

As part of the Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy, TriRE organized a dedicated session on “Circular Economy and Entrepreneurship”, facilitated by Dr. Mohammad Sahabuddin, Associate Professor, Department of Finance and Banking, USTC.

The session explored how the principles of circular economy can create new possibilities for entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable business.

Participants were encouraged to look beyond the traditional “take, make, dispose” model and think about how resources can be kept in use for longer through reducing, reusing, repairing, redesigning, and upcycling.

The discussion connected environmental responsibility with entrepreneurial thinking; showing how challenges such as textile waste and unsustainable consumption can also become opportunities to develop innovative products, services, and business models.

Journey to TriRE | From an Idea to Action 🌱

As part of the Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy, TriRE conducted a dedicated session titled “Journey to TriRE”, facilitated by Rimon Barua, Founder of TriRE and student of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, USTC.

The session took participants behind the story of TriRE; how an idea around waste, sustainability, and youth action gradually developed into a youth-led initiative focused on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Rather than presenting only the achievements, the session explored the challenges, learning experiences, experimentation, teamwork, failures, opportunities, and continuous efforts involved in building TriRE : ত্রিরি.

Participants were encouraged to look at waste differently; not simply as something to discard, but as a potential resource for creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

The session also connected TriRE's journey with the broader purpose of the workshop: helping young people understand that sustainability can move beyond awareness and become practical action.

From the First Welcome to a Day of Learning | TriRE Workshop 🌱

The Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy, organized by TriRE : ত্রিরি at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong- USTC on 18 August 2026, began with an energetic and welcoming atmosphere.

📝 Registration Booth

The day started with participant registration, where students from different departments of USTC checked in, received necessary materials, and connected with the TriRE team before the programme began.

🎙️ Welcome Speech

Sabrina Shaoly, Operation Lead, TriRE, warmly welcomed the guests, participants, and team members on behalf of TriRE, setting the tone for a day focused on learning, creativity, sustainability, and youth action.

🎤 Hosting & Formal Guest Session

The workshop was hosted by Supa Barua, Research & Development Intern and Tithi Barua, Communication Intern, who guided the programme through the opening segment and guest session.

The formal session brought together university authorities and distinguished guests, creating an inspiring platform for students to connect sustainability with their academic and professional journeys.

Following the formal session, participants moved into a series of interactive learning experiences, including Journey to TriRE, Circular Economy & Entrepreneurship, Hands-on Upcycling, Career Guidance, and Q&A.

♻️ The workshop also featured a product exhibition, used denim exchange, practical upcycling activities, certificate distribution, and participant interaction.

TriRE Organizes Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy ♻️

On 18 August 2026, TriRE : ত্রিরি successfully organized a Hands-on Workshop on Upcycling and Circular Economy at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong- USTC.

The workshop was funded by EU International Partnerships, Global Youth Mobilization and partner organizations under Youth Empowerment Fund, and supported by Youth Position Bangladesh, bringing together students from different departments of USTC to learn, explore, create, and engage with the principles of upcycling, circular economy, sustainable consumption, textile waste management, and entrepreneurship.

The programme began with a warm welcome from Sabrina Mansur Shaoly, Operation Lead, TriRE and student of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

We were honoured to have Dr. Hadaate Ullah, Acting Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor and Dean, FSET, and Director, IQAC, USTC, as the Chief Guest, who inaugurated the workshop and encouraged students to engage in innovative and practical solutions to contemporary environmental and social challenges.

The formal session was also graced by Dilip Kumar Barua, Registrar (In-Charge), USTC, and Dr. Mohammad Shahangir Biswas, Associate Professor, Chairman, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, and Adviser, Students Welfare Adviser (SWA), who shared their valuable insights with the participants.

Dr. Mohammad Sahabuddin, Associate Professor, Department of Finance and Banking, USTC, served as the Session Chair and delivered the closing remarks of the formal session.

Participants also took part in an interactive Q&A session, product exhibition, used denim exchange, practical upcycling activities, and certificate distribution making the workshop a space for learning beyond the classroom.

A heartfelt appreciation to all the participants, university authorities, speakers, facilitators, volunteers, interns, and the entire TriRE operational team whose collective efforts made this initiative possible.

This workshop is another step in TriRE's journey to empower young people to rethink waste, create value, and explore sustainable solutions through circular thinking, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

This feature reflects a journey that began with a simple question: what if the waste around us could become an opportunity?

Through TriRE, I’m working with young people and communities to turn textile waste into meaningful solutions while creating opportunities through the circular economy.

Thank you to BRAC USA for recognizing and sharing this journey. This is not just my story– it belongs to everyone who has contributed to the journey of TriRE : ত্রিরি. ♻️
