🥔 A COUCH POTATO 🛋️

➖A couch potato is someone who spends too much time sitting, watching television or doing very little physical activity.

✅ Let’s use it in real life:

• I used to be a couch potato, but now I exercise regularly.

• My brother becomes a couch potato during the holidays.

• Don’t be a couch potato. Go outside and get some exercise!

English Foundation Class by M N Islam Sagar

ইংরেজিতে দুর্বল বলে শুধু Translation মুখস্থ করানো বা হাজারটা Grammar Rule ঠাডা মুখস্থ করানোর মান্ধাতার আমলের পদ্ধতি ইংরেজি শেখাকে অনেক শিক্ষার্থীর কাছে একটা Horror Film বানিয়ে দেয়।

I am = আমি হই
You are = তুমি হও…

এভাবে ইংরেজি শেখানোর দিন শেষ হওয়া দরকার।

আর এমন Method বা Lesson যে শিক্ষার্থী বুঝতে পারে না, তাকে “তোমার দ্বারা ইংরেজি হবে না” বলারও কোনো মানে নেই। সবাই একইভাবে শেখে না। তাই English Foundation মানে শুধু Grammar + Translation নয়।

আমার কাছে English Foundation মানে—

🔹 Speaking & Communication
Context থেকে Idea Generation করতে শেখা।
একই মনের ভাব Paraphrasing করে বিভিন্নভাবে প্রকাশ করতে শেখা।
Contextual Vocabulary শেখা।
বিভিন্ন ধরনের Questions—Opinion, Prediction, Comparison, Contrast, Hypothetical, Problems & Solutions, Advantages & Disadvantages—বুঝতে শেখা এবং Question-এর Key Demand অনুযায়ী Answer করতে শেখা।

🔹 Reading
শুধু শব্দের বাংলা অর্থ জানলেই Reading ভালো হবে না। বুঝতে হবে Gist & Paraphrasing। গড়ে তুলতে হবে Scanning & Skimming-এর অভ্যাস।
বড় Sentence দেখলে ভয় না পেয়ে তার Content Words, Main Structure ও মূল বক্তব্য ধরতে শিখতে হবে।

🔹 Listening
Listening ভালো করতে শুধু বেশি বেশি Listening Test দিলেই হবে না। বুঝতে হবে Spoken English আসলে কানে কীভাবে আসে।
তাই Phonics, Assimilation, Elision, Intonation, Sentence Stress ও Fragmentation সম্পর্কে ধারণা থাকতে হবে। পাশাপাশি নিয়মিত Natural/Native English শোনার অভ্যাস গড়ে তুলতে হবে।

🔹 Writing

English Foundation মানে ইংরেজি ভাষাটা কীভাবে কাজ করে, সেটা বুঝতে শেখা—এবং ধীরে ধীরে নিজে ব্যবহার করতে শেখা।
