The BAIUST Global Affairs Council, a Model United Nations (MUN) Council, was established with a vision to advance the practice of academic simulations of the United Nations. With an illustrious history of six years, we have consistently provided a platform for students to enrich their knowledge of global affairs, refine their diplomatic prowess, and cultivate their leadership acumen. Our mission i
s to nurture a vibrant MUN community within BAIUST, facilitating meaningful academic simulations of the United Nations that foster a deep understanding of international affairs, diplomacy, and effective problem-solving. Our ultimate goal is to empower our members, equipping them with the expertise, confidence, and sense of social responsibility needed to thrive as responsible global citizens. To fulfill our objectives, we strive for academic excellence by organizing top-tier MUN conferences and events that faithfully replicate the procedures and dynamics of the United Nations. These gatherings offer participants the opportunity to engage in rigorous debates, negotiations, and the drafting of resolutions on pressing global issues. We place a strong emphasis on skill development, conducting workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs led by experienced MUN practitioners and guest speakers. Through these initiatives, we enhance participants' diplomatic finesse, public speaking abilities, research aptitude, negotiation tactics, and critical thinking skills. Promoting inclusivity and diversity is a fundamental principle of our Council. We are devoted to creating an environment where students from diverse backgrounds can come together, exchanging ideas, challenging perspectives, and cultivating a global mindset. We wholeheartedly value diversity and actively encourage the participation of students from various disciplines and Departments. This council is the sole authority for Model United Nations (MUN), Global Affairs, and International Relations at this institute. The council is the only one authorized to organize MUN conferences, MUN-related training, workshops, and delegate requirements. This means that any student who wishes to participate in an external MUN conference must go through the council. No other club or organization has the authority to form an MUN club or any other MUN-related activity. Furthermore, we actively engage with the broader BAIUST community and other educational institutions through intervarsity MUN conferences, panel discussions, seminars, and collaborative initiatives. By forging partnerships and networks, we seek to broaden the horizons of our members and champion the values of global citizenship. The BAIUST Global Affairs Council is dedicated to promoting academic excellence, skill development, inclusivity, diversity, and community engagement in the realm of Model United Nations. We remain steadfast in our commitment to shaping the next generation of informed, confident, and socially conscious leaders.
