𝗔𝗺𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝟯𝟬: 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆, 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄

AmCham Bangladesh celebrated its 30th Anniversary on September 12, 2026, uniting current and former AmCham leadership, members, Government leaders, diplomats, business leaders, and distinguished guests for an evening celebrating three decades of strengthening the Bangladesh–U.S. economic partnership.

Reflecting on the journey, AmCham President 𝗠𝗿. 𝗦𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗹 paid tribute to the visionaries and leaders who shaped the Chamber's legacy, while setting his sights firmly on the future. He underscored key priorities for the road ahead—energy security, an enabling investment climate, intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, regulatory reform, and deeper Government–private sector collaboration.

The evening also marked the announcement of the 𝗔𝗺𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗮 𝗨𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱, Vice President of AmCham and CEO of 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 Bangladesh—a new recognition celebrating outstanding contributions across sectors.

Speaking as Special Guest, 𝗛.𝗘. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻, U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh, congratulated AmCham on 30 years of advancing U.S.–Bangladesh commercial ties. Noting AmCham's role as a reliable partner to the U.S. Government over the past 30 years, he expressed confidence that, as Bangladesh delivers on its commitments under the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, the partnership will see even more positive outcomes in the next 30 years and beyond.

Chief Guest 𝗠𝗿. 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝗸𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗿, 𝗠𝗣, Hon'ble Minister of Commerce, Minister of Industries, and Minister of Textiles and Jute, reaffirmed the Government's support for AmCham's ambition to facilitate an additional 𝗨𝗦$𝟱 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 in American investment over the next five years. He stressed the importance of an investment-friendly regulatory environment, while recognizing AmCham's increasingly active role in policy advocacy and as a bridge between Government and the private sector.

At the heart of the celebration was a tribute to AmCham's founders, former Presidents, former Executive Committee members, former U.S. Ambassadors, and members whose vision, leadership, and partnership have shaped its 30-year legacy.

The evening culminated in "𝟯𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟯𝟬 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆," a spectacular musical showcase by 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗳𝗲𝗲—a fitting finale to a milestone evening.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) hosted a Networking Reception honoring the newly appointed leadership within the AmCham community on 6 September 2026 at Sheraton Dhaka.

A distinguished gathering of AmCham's Executive Committee, Sub-Committee leaders, Former Presidents, dignitaries from U.S. Embassy and members of the Chamber extended warm felicitations to Mr. Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, CEO & Managing Director, Berger Paints Bangladesh; Ms. Shu Xiong, President & Managing Director, Chevron Bangladesh; and Mr. Md Enamul Huque, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, Mr. Syed Mohammad Kamal, President of AmCham, warmly welcomed the business leaders in their new roles, highlighted the Chamber's recent initiatives and priorities, and invited their active engagement in advancing AmCham's future endeavors.

The business leaders, in turn, appreciated AmCham's warm welcome and expressed their commitment to remaining closely engaged and contributing to the Chamber's initiatives and shared priorities.

Some of the most impactful moments at AmCham's Flagship Luncheon on 16 August came after the formal remarks — when the floor opened and members engaged directly with the Honorable Finance Minister 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐫 𝐊𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐫𝐮 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐮𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐲 MP, moderated by AmCham President Mr. 𝐒𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥.

The exchange covered revenue mobilization, private investment, the regulatory environment, and access to capital for startups — with the Honorable Finance Minister highlighting the Government's focus on benchmarking compliant businesses and accelerating full automation of the taxation system to reduce corruption and improve efficiency.

Serving as a constructive bridge between the private sector and policymakers — this is what AmCham Bangladesh stands for.

On 16 August 2026, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) hosted its Flagship Luncheon, “Building Investors’ Confidence: From Policy Reform to Effective Implementation,” at the InterContinental Dhaka, bringing together government officials, policymakers, business leaders, investors, and AmCham members to discuss strengthening Bangladesh’s investment climate.
AmCham President Mr. Syed Mohammad Kamal emphasized that effective and consistent implementation of policy reforms is key to converting Bangladesh’s strong fundamentals into sustained investor confidence and new investment.
The Honorable Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury MP reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to a more business-friendly environment through deregulation, tax reform, and improved trade processes, stressing that policy predictability and consistency are essential to strengthening investor confidence.
Mr. Md. Mahbub ur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC, emphasized the importance of stability, security, and predictability in fostering investor confidence, while noting that enhanced trade facilitation can facilitate greater investment.
The luncheon concluded with an interactive Q&A session with the business community, focusing on Bangladesh’s economic outlook and the reforms needed to encourage greater private investment and support emerging businesses, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ala Uddin Ahmad, Vice President of AmCham and Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh.
