Bangladesh Secures Lowest US Tariff at 10% – 2.5% Advantage Over Vietnam

The United States has imposed Section 301 tariffs ranging from 10% to 12.5% on 60 countries. Bangladesh secured the LOWEST rate at 10%, while competitors China, Vietnam, and Thailand face the maximum 12.5%.

What This Means for US Buyers:
✅ 2.5% tariff advantage over Vietnam
✅ $1,250 saved on a $50,000 order
✅ $25,000+ annual savings on $1M imports
✅ Potential TRQ facility could waive 10% tariff entirely

Bangladesh is among only 17 of 86 countries in the lower 10% tier.

The USTR is also considering a three-year Tariff-Rate Quota (TRQ) for Bangladesh that would waive Section 301 tariffs on goods made from US cotton and textile inputs.

This could reduce total tariffs from ~25.6% to ~15.6% – a 10% saving on top of the 2.5% advantage over Vietnam.

At Everywear Bangladesh, we help US buyers navigate this tariff landscape:
✅ US Cotton TRQ expertise
✅ Tariff savings calculation
✅ Compliant factory network
✅ End-to-end sourcing support

Bangladesh RMG Energy Crisis: 30-40% Production Capacity Drop – What Foreign Buyers Need to Know

Bangladesh's garment industry is facing its most severe crisis in years. A deepening energy shortage has slashed factory production capacity by 30-40% over the past two weeks.

This is NOT just a local issue – it directly impacts US, UK, and EU fashion brands sourcing from Bangladesh.

Key Data:
⚠️ Production Capacity Drop: 30-40%
⚠️ Energy Costs Increased: 65-75%
⚠️ Profitability Reduced: 25-35%
⚠️ Factories Operating at: 60-70% capacity
⚠️ 100+ Factories Closed in 2 Years
⚠️ 40,000 Jobs Lost

What This Means for Foreign Buyers:
📦 Extended Lead Times – orders take longer to complete
💰 Rising Costs – passed on to buyers
🔄 Supply Chain Instability – unscheduled holidays, production disruptions
📉 Buyer Confidence Erosion – some orders shifting to India

QIMA Report Warning: Foreign companies are redirecting orders to China as buyers reconsider their 'China-plus-one' sourcing strategy.

BUT – Opportunity Exists:
✅ US Cotton Clause: Zero reciprocal tariff on garments with US cotton
✅ 290 LEED Green Factories (World Leader)
✅ Strategic partnerships with resilient manufacturers

At Everywear Bangladesh, we help foreign buyers navigate this crisis:
✅ Direct access to resilient, LEED-certified manufacturers with backup power
✅ US Cotton zero-tariff expertise
✅ Lead time optimization
✅ Real-time production monitoring
✅ End-to-end sourcing support

[BREAKING] Bangladesh RMG Exports to US Fall 5.58% – What Buyers Need to Know

Bangladesh's readymade garment exports to the United States declined by 5.58% to $4.01 billion in the first half of 2026, according to OTEXA data released August 4, 2026.

Here is what US buyers need to know:

📊 THE NUMBERS (H1 2026):
🇧🇩 Bangladesh: $4.01B (-5.58%) | Market Share: 10.64%
🇻🇳 Vietnam: $7.85B (+1.33%) | Market Share: 22.51% (LEADER)
🇨🇳 China: $3.57B (-37.65%) | Market Share: 11.34%
🇮🇩 Indonesia: $2.33B (+3.67%) | Market Share: 6.33%
🇰🇭 Cambodia: $2.13B (+12.61%) | Market Share: 6.77% (FASTEST GROWING)

⚠️ WHY IS BANGLADESH LOSING GROUND?
- Energy Crisis: Production capacity down 25-30%
- Longer Lead Times vs Vietnam
- Limited MMF (Man-Made Fibre) Capacity
- Rising Production Costs
- Infrastructure Bottlenecks

China lost $2.16B in US apparel exports in H1 2026. But Bangladesh failed to capture a significant portion – Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia took the majority.

BUT – OPPORTUNITY EXISTS FOR US BUYERS:
✅ US Cotton Clause: Zero reciprocal tariff on garments with US-origin cotton
✅ 290 LEED Green Factories (World Leader – 125 Platinum)
✅ MOQ from 300 pieces
✅ Competitive pricing for knitwear and denim

SMART SOURCING STRATEGY:
🔹 Basic, high-volume products → Bangladesh
🔹 Premium, complex products → Vietnam

At Everywear Bangladesh, we help US buyers navigate this shifting landscape:
✅ Direct access to resilient, LEED-certified manufacturers
✅ US Cotton zero-tariff expertise
✅ Lead time optimization
✅ Quality assurance and risk mitigation
✅ End-to-end sourcing support

🇧🇩 BGMEA & BTMA Join Hands to Achieve Bangladesh’s $100 Billion Apparel Export Vision

Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry has taken another significant step toward becoming the world’s most powerful sourcing destination.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at achieving US$100 billion in apparel exports through stronger backward linkage, local textile production, innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness.

This partnership is expected to strengthen Bangladesh’s position as one of the world’s leading apparel manufacturing hubs while creating new opportunities for international brands and buyers looking for reliable sourcing partners.

At Everywear Bangladesh, we welcome every initiative that makes Bangladesh’s garment industry stronger, more competitive, and more sustainable.

Vietnam Has Overtaken Bangladesh as the World's Second-Largest Apparel Exporter – What This Means for Your Business

Vietnam's apparel exports reached $39.64 billion against Bangladesh's $38.82 billion in 2025. The gap is widening, and former BGMEA President Faruque Hassan warns that "By the end of 2026, Vietnam could overtake Bangladesh to become the world's second-largest apparel exporter."

But here is what the data actually tells us:

Key Comparison:
🇧🇩 Bangladesh:
- US Market Share: 11.3%
- EU Market Share: 15.0% (Leader)
- Minimum Wage: $95/month
- Average Lead Time: 65-94 days
- LEED Green Factories: 290 (World Leader)
- US Cotton Clause: Zero Tariff with US Cotton
- MOQ: From 300 pieces

🇻🇳 Vietnam:
- US Market Share: 22.2% (Leader)
- EU Market Share: 6.5%
- Minimum Wage: $180/month
- Average Lead Time: 49-70 days
- LEED Green Factories: ~100
- FTAs: EU, UK, Japan, Korea, CPTPP (Major Advantage)
- MOQ: 500-1,000+ pieces

The Reality:
Bangladesh is NOT losing its competitive edge – it is evolving. The country leads in sustainability with 290 LEED-certified factories, offers the US Cotton Clause for zero reciprocal tariff, and provides low MOQ from 300 pieces for startups and growing brands.

Vietnam has shorter lead times, better infrastructure, and more FTAs. For premium, complex garments, Vietnam is often the better choice.

The Smart Strategy:
Many successful brands use a dual-sourcing approach – basic, high-volume products from Bangladesh and premium, complex products from Vietnam.

At Everywear Bangladesh, we help you navigate this decision and source successfully from Bangladesh with:
✅ Direct access to verified manufacturers
✅ US Cotton zero-tariff expertise
✅ Sustainable sourcing (LEED, GOTS, OEKO-TEX)
✅ Low MOQ from 300 pieces
✅ End-to-end support – concept to delivery

This means:

- Potential savings of $190,000+ annually on $1 million in imports
- Access to higher-quality US cotton
