Eight Most Common Types of Leadership.
1. Authoritative leadership (The Boss)
Style: The leader makes all the rules and the rest of the staff has to comply strictly.
Pros: Decision-making is fast, clear, and well underway.
Cons: Don't leave space for any other opinion. Feels dictator.
Best for: In crises or when something is going out of control. It must be adhered to even under stressful circumstances to ensure the right thing is done.
2. Democratic Leader (Team Player)
Style: Help others make decisions after listening to everyoneâs ideas.
Pros: People are enthusiastic and innovative ideas are generated.
Cons: Making decisions can happen slowly.
Best for: In a teamwork approach that needs high levels of requirements and contributions to be achieved.
3. Transformational Leadership (The Motivator)
Style: You will most likely see a leader in the form of a platoon leader who inspires the squat to say higher. Itâs all about encouraging individuals to grow.
Pros: Artistic and someone who has a vision. Assist in personal development.
Cons: Can develop a sort of âpie in the skyâ mindset and aim too high for goals above realism.
Best for: Where you feel it is time to make change and want to think wild.
4. Leadership Communication (Coordinator)
Style: Deals with people on the basis of rewards and results and the focus is on completion. To ensure the right thing is done.
Pros: concrete objectives including responsibility and action plans
Cons: May come across as or feel too oppressive or unemotional.
Best for: Whenever clear causes and effects exist, for instance in selling or servicing clients.
5.Leadership Laissez-faire
Style: In this case, the leader is fully absorbed with the task by the team and the teamâs manifests independent thought.
Pros: Increased independence and self-assurance.
Cons: Insufficient guidance is sometimes problematic.
Best for: A developed and responsible group of employees, who do not need much of their bossâs time, and are self-motivated.
6. Ministerial Leadership (Overseer)
Style: What it is that a leader has upon his team is that he deploys the teamâs efforts and provides for its ecology.
Pros: Encourages building of self-esteem and enhancement of work efficiency on a team and individual basis.
Cons: Can be difficult to find a balance between the needs of your team and the needs of the organization as a whole.
Best for: Organizations whose goal is to assist growth to individuals, for example, education and non- governmental organizations.
7. Charismatic Leadership( The energiser)
Style: Does a leader apply the beauty and personality of oneself and that of the commander to great effect in rallying the team.
Pros: Happiness and joy were directly related to making profits.
Cons. Strong emotional appeal. Most resistance is likely to be primarily due to the leader's personality.
Stylish for brigades, which require a soldiering up, or supply stimulating qualities essential for a critical effect.
8. Business Leadership (Rule Followers)
Style: The primary limitation is the fact that the leader is mechanized into strict adherence to set rules and laws which dictate how things should be done.
Pros: Maintains uniformity and seeks to prevent any omissions.
Cons: Can be very tedious and fraught with complications at times.
Best for: Heavily bureaucratic industries like government and finance where minimal regulatory risk is ideal.
That means different leadership styles work for different people and situations. Good leaders are flexible and change their style according to the greatest needs of their team.
