Stop confusing moodboards with instructions. Inspiration doesn’t build garments; clarity does.
Moodboards are useful. They define a direction, a feeling, a visual world. They help align taste. But they don’t tell a factory what to do. A moodboard won’t define measurements. It won’t explain construction. It won’t specify fabric behavior, tolerances, or finishing details.
So when a factory receives only inspiration, they have to interpret. And interpretation is where things start to drift.
The sample comes back close, but not right. The fit is off. The details are approximated. The result feels like your idea, but not your product. Not because the factory failed. Because the instruction was never precise.
Manufacturing doesn’t run on inspiration. It runs on clarity. Clear sketches. Clear measurements. Clear construction details. Clear expectations.
That’s what removes guesswork. That’s what aligns everyone from development to production. Moodboards inspire the vision. Technical detail builds the garment.
Confuse the two, and you’re not directing production. You’re hoping it works out.
