As part of Ecosystem Mapping work for Orange Corners Bangladesh, the first Focus Group Discussion in Bogura was organised by our consulting partner CapeC Consulting on 11 May 2026.

The session engaged early-stage and small entrepreneurs, including women founders and microloan recipients, who shared their experiences around access to finance, market barriers, and social constraints. They also highlighted the role of microfinance and local support systems in helping them sustain and grow their businesses. 💡

These insights will guide future efforts to strengthen a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bangladesh. 🌱

Orange Corners Bangladesh is a multi-year incubation and acceleration programme equipping youth and early-stage entrepreneurs to build sustainable, investment-ready businesses. Led by YY Ventures, we strengthen the ecosystem through private–public collaboration, partnerships, knowledge sharing, and advocacy for gender equity and inclusion in entrepreneurship.

Social businesses are principally designed to be financially self-sustaining. That is the whole point.

A social business earns its own revenue and generates real profit. It operates, grows, and solves real problems without depending on donations or continuous external funding.

Once investors recover their original investment, every additional return is reinvested into the same business or another one to create greater impact.

Profit exists, but there is no dividend distribution. Every return serves a purpose beyond personal gain.

🌎✨ A Look Inside the First LATAM Social Business Hackathon in Bogotá, Colombia

On May 8, 2026, the energy at Universidad Externado de Colombia was electric as students, innovators, and changemakers gathered for the very first LATAM Social Business Hackathon.

Throughout the day, participants immersed themselves in understanding of social business, engaged in mentorship, collaborated in group work that transformed ideas into actionable models, and delivered pitch presentations that showcased bold visions for driving social and environmental change.

The ideas were as inspiring as they were diverse:
🧶 Supporting indigenous women artisans through fair and direct market access
🌾 Connecting small-scale farmers to global markets while reducing supply chain barriers
💡 Creating sustainable, community-driven business models rooted in social impact

In the coming months, we’ll work closely with the winning teams through mentorship and incubation support to help bring their ideas to life. 🚀

This hackathon is part of the LATAM Social Business Ecosystem Builders Initiative, led by Yunus France and YY Ventures, with support from Yunus Centre, Yunus + You – The YY Foundation, and the Dutch Postcode Lottery.

This is only the beginning of building a stronger, more connected ecosystem for youth-led social businesses across Latin America. 🚀
