Why? One day while we were chatting with a few friends, the topic came up that why don't we do something ourselves thinking about the future? Then, eventually we thought of doing something about agriculture. This is mainly because Bangladesh is an agricultural country and a large part of the population of this country is associated with agriculture. And if we educat
ed youths come forward in agriculture, the country will be benefited and on the other hand, we will be able to do something good Insha ALLAH! There are many types of agriculture such as paddy cultivation, vegetable cultivation, poultry rearing, cattle rearing etc. Now thinking about what to do and at the same time while gathering information, we finally decided that we would start with goats because it seemed easy to us. We formally started our work from January, 2018. In Netrokona District: Village: Bhodropara, Post Office: Shinher Bangla, Thana: Netrakona, District: Netrakona. How?
• Since we didn't know much about it, we started gathering information by ourselves first.
• Then we started talking to people who are experienced and working on this.
• We visited some districts on the spot and tried to know about the condition of the farmers there, their type of work, problems, details etc.
• Since it takes capital to do business, we planned to start our venture in 2-3 years by saving from our own expenses, tuition money or job by making 2000 BDT per month.
• To solve the problem of where to deposit the money, we found out that a joint account can be set up in a bank and it also helps us in our work. So we started our fund activities by opening an account at the Shyamoli branch of South-East Bank.
• After opening that fund, we formed a committee to manage it smoothly and it makes our work easier. Furthermore, it also speeds up our works. Another thing is that it was not possible for all of us to give equal time because everyone was engaged in their own primary tasks.
• In 2016, our 5-member team visited the place where our firm will be and everyone agreed that we can do the farm work there. According to the decision of that team, we will work to build houses, fill the soil, build security fences. But later on, according to the advice of one of our experts, we agreed to do it in the open instead of keeping cattle.
• When our team visited again in February 2020, they saw satisfactory improvement and laid the foundation stone of the house. At the same time, the work of security fence is almost 80% completed. If the COVID-19 situation improves quickly, we will finish the rest of the work quickly Insha ALLAH.
• In order to take the farm a long way, we are trying to coordinate well with the public and private places/organizations (Upazila Livestock Centers, NGO Resources, private organizations etc.) from which services, medicines, information and various collaborations as well. Challenge:
• Lack of formal work experience
• Gaining faith
• Systematic works
This is why we took decision that we need to train some people first and some took part in some trainings. Current situation:
At present, we have earmarked 20 percent for cattle rearing. The place has been filled with soil. Then we are thinking of making a security fence there. At the same time, we have mortgaged 40% of the land for grass (not lease). This land taken for grass is located just beside with 20 percent of our land
More than 8 lakh BDT has been deposited in our fund now. Of this, 3 lakh BDT has already been spent. Hopefully, we will be able to start the process of cow rearing in the middle of this Qurbani (2022) Eid.
