10-Day SIYB Training of Trainers (ToT) Begins in Bangladesh

The Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Foundation of Bangladesh has launched a 10-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program with 23 participants from Compression International Bangladesh.

The training program is being conducted in two phases: the first five days at Amazon Lily, followed by the final five days at the BRAC Learning Center, Cox’s Bazar.

The sessions are being facilitated by four expert SIYB trainers:

Mr. Mustafizur Rahman
Ms. Sumaiya Zaman
Mr. Md. Abdus Sala Sarder
Mr. Mohammad Kamal Hossain

At the inaugural session, the President of SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh, Ms. Ismat Jerin Khan, officially opened the program and encouraged participants to utilize the training to strengthen entrepreneurship development initiatives across the country.

This program marks another milestone in SIYB Foundation’s ongoing efforts to build the capacity of trainers who will, in turn, support micro and small-scale entrepreneurs nationwide.

In November 2023, the SIYB Foundation, with support from the International Labour Organization (ILO), conducted a 6-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on SIYB. This fully residential program aimed to equip participants with the skills to deliver SIYB training effectively. A total of 18 participants attended, including 13 females and 5 males, representing various organizations such as the Department of Women Affairs (Government of Bangladesh), Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Barishal Women Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Indigenous Peoples Development Services (IPDS), Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI), SME Foundation, and National Association of Small & Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB). Most participants held post-graduate degrees, with one participant holding a Ph.D. All participants had prior training experience, contributing to a highly interactive and fruitful.

The closing ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Pedro Jr. Bellen (CTA, ProGRESS Project, ILO), Mr. Nabin Karna (Technical Specialist, Enterprise Development, ProGRESS Project, ILO), Mr. Tanjil Ahsan (National Programme Officer, ProGRESS Project, ILO), Ms. Ismat Jerin Khan (President, SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh), Mr. Enamul Haque (VP-III & Certified Master Trainer, SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh) and Mr. Ruman Ishtiak Rafeen (Certified Master Trainer, SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh).
