Happy ! 🌎
Earth Day started in 1970s USA and marks the birth of the modern environmental movement, which led to first-of-their-kind environmental laws.
This Earth Day, we’re delighted to announce our own employee-led, internal Sustainability Network. As sustainability is at the heart of what we do, we’re fortunate to have so many people at Sedex with interest, passion and expertise in a variety of ESG topics. This Network will help us unleash this potential, maximise that expertise and share ideas across our global teams.
This day, we asked our Sedex staff how they’re changing their habits to be more sustainable. What other day-to-day changes can we all be making?
Marta (UK): “We support a local charity taking the clothes boys can’t wear and toys they don’t play with. For this year’s Earth Day, we will be aiming not to buy new clothes until the end of the year unless they are essential and we can’t get them from the charities.”
Azusa (Japan): “This year’s theme is “Planet vs. Plastic”. In that spirit, I always bring my reusable bag with me and refuse to take paper/plastic bags. There are a lot of brands that offer many fun colours and patterns of reusable bags! Stay fashionable and sustainable!”
Chloe (UK): “We’re real foodies at home, and celebrating anything always goes through sharing a meal. This year to celebrate Earth Day, we made the decision that although we do like meat, we will try to have at least 3 days a week without it at all… We started it off with a recipe for roasted sweet potatoes with feta and home-made coriander pesto. Absolute bliss for our taste buds!”
