Interport Group

Interport Group Interport Group was founded in 2001 as Shipping Agency (Interport Ship Agents Ltd.)

Established in 2001, Interport Group is the leading provider of ports and maritime services in Bangladesh, from P&I Claims Handling to Ship Agency, Contract Logistics, Marine Survey and Consultancy! Interport Group offers a range of shipping related services and during the last two decades has successfully established itself as one of the leading companies in the shipping services industry in Bangladesh. to provide P&I and Claim Correspondent services to the P&I Clubs, Marine Underwriters and Legal Firms and Port Agency services to the Ship Owners, Ship Management Companies, & Charterers. The two main sea ports of Bangladesh, Chittagong and Mongla were about to lose their historic reputation as safe and vibrant sea ports due to various malpractices by some local service providers. Shipowners, operators, charterers and their underwriters were beginning to feel insecure when their vessels were fixed for the Bangladeshi Ports as the necessary assistance and legal protection was often not available. Both the P&I division and Agency division Interport Ship Agents Ltd being manned by experienced and professional staff with a track record of integrity and efficiency has contributed to the reversal of the trend by successfully protecting their clients with their pro-active and innovative services whenever there was a situation which threatened the smooth operation and sailing of the vessels. In the year 2006 the P&I Correspondent division and the Agency division were officially separated due to increase of work load and currently they operate as two different and independent companies with Interport Maritime Ltd acting as correspondent for P&I Clubs and underwriters and the Interport Ship Agents Ltd offers port agency services to ship owners and charterers. The separation of services with the increase of business in course of time has improved the quality of services and has also eliminated the possibility of any conflict of interest.

Interport Group was honored to host the Maritime Open House — Advancing Responsible Business Practices in Bangladesh’s Maritime Sector, in collaboration with Global Compact Network Bangladesh (GCNB), Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), and Ocean Centre Bangladesh, at our head office in Dhaka on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

As the second event of the day, the Open House commenced at 3:00 PM, bringing together maritime professionals and key industry stakeholders for an open exchange on strengthening collaboration and advancing responsible business practices across Bangladesh’s maritime sector.

Mr. Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, Managing Director of Interport Group, opened the session by welcoming the participants and reflecting on his journey with MACN over the years—setting the tone for a conversation grounded in experience, collaboration, and collective action.

Representatives from GCNB, Ocean Centre Bangladesh, and MACN then shared insights into their respective facilitation, activation, and membership processes. Across all three presentations, a common message emerged: meaningful engagement with these platforms can help companies strengthen management systems built around sustainability, accelerate the transition towards safer and more sustainable maritime practices, and foster greater integrity and transparency in addressing corruption.

The session closed with a round table on a single question: where is Bangladesh's biggest maritime readiness gap? Members from across the industry set out their own answers, and the discussion was as candid as an open house should be.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Global Compact Network Bangladesh, Ocean Centres and MACN for opening this conversation to the sector, and to every member and guest who joined us at our head office.

The door stays open. If your organisation is weighing up where to begin on responsible business practice, these three platforms are the place to start — and we would be glad to make the introduction.

Interport Group was privileged to host the first Working Group Meeting of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) in 2026 at our corporate office in Dhaka on 30 July.

The session opened with a welcome address by our Managing Director, Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, setting out why collective action matters for Bangladesh's maritime sector. Commodore Syed Ariful Islam (Project Lead, MACN) then presented on MACN — its mandate, its work in the region, and the network's future plan for the coming period.

A case study presented by our team grounded the discussion in day-to-day port and agency realities, and opened up a frank exchange with the members present: questions on how the network operates in practice, and a wider conversation on the current pulse of the shipping agency industry.

One message carried the room, and it is the one MACN was built on — say no to corruption. Awareness is where that begins, and sessions like this are how it spreads.

As Bangladesh's first full MACN member, Interport Group remains committed to raising the standard of integrity in our industry, alongside the members and partners who share that commitment.

Our sincere thanks to MACN and to every participant who joined us and contributed their insight.

First finals. First trophy. Just the beginning. 🏆⚽

Team Interport made it to the finals of the ASCENT Corporate Soccer Cup for the very first time — and walked away Runner-Up in the ASCENT Championship Cup.

We didn't lift the trophy tonight, but we lifted something just as important: proof that this team belongs on the biggest stage. Every sprint, every save, every moment on that pitch was a reminder that heart and hustle show up in everything we do — on the field and off it.

To our players, our families cheering pitch-side, and everyone who believed in this squad from game one — this one's for you. Runners-up today, contenders for good from here on out.
See you at the top next season.
