🌊 We're honoured to welcome Saif Rahman as a Board Member of YoungShip Bangladesh!

A member of YoungShip Bangladesh since its inception, Saif has consistently supported our initiatives and remained closely connected to our journey. He currently serves as a Director and Board Member at Shun Shing Group Bangladesh, whose shipping and chartering division operates dry-bulk vessels across Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Bangladesh, China, and the UAE. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, and beyond work is passionate about sports, music, and travelling.

Saif aspires to advance zero-emission shipping and seamless global connectivity, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable, and better-connected maritime industry. His experience, perspective, and commitment will help drive innovation, sustainability, and youth development across Bangladesh's maritime sector.

Some knots hold precisely because both sides pull together.

The YoungShip Bangladesh Board came together on 25th July, 2026, for another productive Board Meeting, an afternoon of thoughtful discussions, strategic planning, and genuine camaraderie, graciously hosted by our Vice Chairman Mr. Asgar Haider. Beyond the agenda, it was the warmth and hospitality that reminded us why this community continues to thrive.

Our Board Members proudly congratulated our Chairman, Mr. Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, on his recent election to the YoungShip International Board as the Regional Representative for Asia & the Middle East—a milestone that reflects not only his leadership but also the growing voice and presence of YoungShip Bangladesh within the global YoungShip community.

Together, we reflected on our recent progress and looked ahead to an exciting year ahead for YoungShip Bangladesh.

Yesterday early morning on a weekend, YoungShip Bangladesh hosted a special edition of eBook Talks, where Mr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Hye, FHEA, CMILT, Lecturer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Dhofar University (Oman), guided our community through his eBook, Shipping Logistics Management, transforming complex maritime concepts into practical industry knowledge.

Rather than simply explaining shipping, the session connected the dots between global trade, freight markets, ports, terminals, logistics networks, sustainability, and the future of maritime logistics.

Some of the key takeaways included:

⚓ Why shipping is a derived demand driven by global trade, not the other way around.

📈 How freight markets move through predictable cycles, and why understanding those cycles matters for industry professionals.

🚢 Practical frameworks like SCOPE, INTERMODAL, PROFIT, and the 7Rs, showing how real-world decisions are made in fleet planning, port operations, and supply chain management.

🌍 Lessons from today's maritime challenges, from geopolitical disruptions to smart ports, digitalisation, resilience, and the industry's journey toward net-zero emissions.

Most importantly, the session reminded us that maritime isn't just about ships. It's about systems, strategy, and continuous learning.

The keynote was followed by an engaging Rapid Fire Round and an interactive Live Q&A Session, where participants explored topics beyond the slides — including live discussion of real-world cases like the Baltimore bridge incident — discussing careers, emerging industry trends, and practical applications of the concepts presented.

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Hye for sharing not only his expertise but also the thinking behind writing this eBook, making shipping and logistics easier to understand for students and young professionals.

YoungShip Bangladesh in Chattogram 🇧🇩⚓

To mark the Day of the Seafarer 2026, the Chairman of YoungShip Bangladesh travelled to Chattogram together with Board Member, Zarin Tasnim Enam and Member, Ahmed Taasin Asadullah to attend the international seminar focused on strengthening legal protection for seafarers.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Maritime Law Society (BMLS) and McLaw Services Ltd, with support from the Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association (BMMOA), Interport Group, and other leading maritime industry partners.

Held under the International Maritime Organization (IMO) theme “Carrying World Trade. Carrying the Risks.”, the seminar brought together maritime professionals, legal experts, policymakers, regulators, academics, and industry leaders to discuss the evolving challenges faced by seafarers and the importance of stronger legal safeguards, fair treatment, and international cooperation.

The discussions highlighted the critical role seafarers continue to play in sustaining global trade while operating under increasingly complex conditions. The event further emphasised the need to ensure their rights, welfare, dignity, and access to legal protection remain at the centre of maritime policy and industry action.

YoungShip Bangladesh values opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue that contributes to the future of ethical, resilient, and people-centred shipping and remains committed to empowering the next generation of maritime professionals through active participation and collaboration.

A meaningful addition to the YoungShip Bangladesh journey. 🇧🇩⚓

During a recent business visit to Oslo, our President of YoungShip Bangladesh had the wonderful opportunity to connect with members of the global YoungShip community. 🌍

We sincerely thank Erlend Holberg, Secretary General of YoungShip International, for the warm invitation to lunch alongside friends and members of YoungShip Oslo. What made the occasion even more memorable was the thoughtful presentation of the YoungShip flag to YoungShip Bangladesh — a gesture that was both meaningful and deeply appreciated.

Upon returning to Bangladesh, our President proudly placed the flag at the YoungShip Bangladesh office as a symbol of friendship, unity, and the strong international connections that continue to strengthen our growing maritime network.

The visit also provided an opportunity to meet with friends from the Boards of YoungShip Athens — Peder Andreas Hanstad and Aly Ramadan — and YoungShip Hamburg — Markus Gunnes. It was a pleasure to exchange updates on our respective departments, discuss future plans, and share ideas on learning, growth, and strengthening engagement across the YoungShip network.
