until your organisation decides they don't need procurement of course, because you weren't able to show the numbers on a tracker

In this infographic, we show you how to do it, the differences between the two and the key skills required.

♻️ Repost it or share it with your team if you find this helpful.

The transition from 5S to 6S simply means taking the traditional five-step workplace organization methodology (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and adding a crucial sixth pillar: Safety. This creates a holistic management framework that guarantees an efficient, clutter-free, and hazard-free work environment.

The 6th S: Safety & Security

Safety (Seiri / Anzen): Integrates proactive hazard identification, risk assessment, and hazard mitigation right into daily processes.

Why it matters: While a clean space is inherently safer, 6S specifically ensures that safety equipment (like fire extinguishers and eye-wash stations) are never blocked. It encourages placing danger warnings, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), and conducting regular ergonomic/hazard audits.

How to Transition

Assess Hazards: Identify existing physical, chemical, or ergonomic risks in your workspace.

Implement Visuals: Use color-coded floor tape, hazard signs, and equipment lock-out procedures during the "Set in Order" phase.

Establish Protocols: Update your "Standardize" procedures to include emergency plans, incident reporting, and daily safety checkpoints

Most procurement negotiations fail before they even begin.

I feel often it's because many buyers don’t prepare enough.

We talk about “win-win” outcomes, yet too often our preparation is simply:

🔹 a half-baked pricing model
🔹 last year’s contract pulled from a dusty folder
🔹 and a hope that the supplier won’t notice the gaps.

Suppliers notice, always.

Negotiation is about who walks in the room already knowing their fallback, their red lines, their levers.

It’s about who has rehearsed the playbook before the game starts.

That’s why I’ve pulled together the 7 negotiation frameworks every procurement professional should have in their back pocket (see infographic).

BATNA, ZOPA, Anchoring, Styles… none of these are simple theory.
