HR accounting, also known as Human Resource Accounting (HRA), is a method of accounting that focuses on valuing and measuring the contribution of human resources to an organization. It involves tracking the costs associated with employees, such as recruitment, training, compensation, and development, and attempts to assign a monetary value to the skills, knowledge, and experience that employees bring to the company.

The core idea behind HR accounting is that human capital (employees) is a valuable asset to an organization and that organizations should recognize, measure, and report their investments in people, much like other financial assets.

Key aspects of HR accounting include:

Cost Accounting: Identifying and recording the costs related to hiring, training, compensating, and retaining employees.
Valuation of Human Resources: Estimating the economic value of an employee's skills, experience, and knowledge to the organization. This may include methods like the replacement cost method or the present value method.

Reporting: Including human resources as an asset on the balance sheet, or at least providing information about human capital in financial reports or disclosures.

While HR accounting is not universally accepted or practiced in all organizations or accounting standards, its aim is to emphasize the importance of investing in people for the long-term success and sustainability of the business.
