BIFFL partners with Future Carbon Energy Services in The Carbon Emission Reduction (CDM) Project for Energy Efficiency Improvement in The Brick Manufacturing Industry in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL), a government owned non-banking financial institution signed a ‘Letter of Collaboration’ with Future Carbon Energy Services (FCES), working in Energy Efficiency and Carbon Management program under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Kyoto Protocol Agreement, at BIFFL premises, Kakrail, Dhaka today, on 25-10-2017 to include the Brick Kilns projects financed by BIFFL in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project of FCES titled ‘National Programme for Energy Efficiency Improvement in the Brick Manufacturing Sector in Bangladesh (UNFCCC PoA Ref: 10355)’.
Mr. S. M. Formanul Islam, CEO of BIFFL and Mr. Raden Siddiqui, Managing Partner of FCES signed the agreement on behalf of the respective organizations.
CDM of the UNFCCC binds the developing countries to promote the projects that reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, and offers them to gain the benefits in creation of job opportunities, entering new markets and strengthening ties between developed and developing countries;
Aiming at focusing on the environmental hazards of conventional chimney based brick kilns, as well as the environment friendliness of tunnel kiln technology of brick manufacturing sector, BIFFL is proud to be associated with this programme. The successful implementation of the programme will lead to the sustainable development of the target areas.

Future Carbon has the pleasure to inform all of its stakeholders and well-wishers that as a continuous endeavor for spreading energy efficiency measures and sustainability in the Banking and Financial industries in Bangladesh, Future Carbon has successfully completed the Carbon Footprint Measurement for Bangladesh Bank HQ, Dhaka. Future Carbon is the only entity as of this date in Bangladesh who conducted Carbon Footprint Assessment for central bank, five-star luxury hotel and resort (http://www.thepalacelife.com/) and businesses.
Future Carbon along with its research partner, Institute of Energy, University of Dhaka have conducted a training workshop on Process and Methodology of Carbon Footprint Measurement for Banks and Financial Institutions for the senior management of Bangladesh Bank facilitated by Sustainable Finance Department (SFD) on December 20, 2106 at Bangladesh Bank HQ premise. Honorable Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Mr S K Sur Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop. Senior management from the SFD were also presented in the workshop.
This workshop is the result of collaborative effort between Bangladesh Bank and Future Carbon to accelerate the adoption of environmentally responsible banking practices among the banks and financial institutions. Future Carbon is working particularly in energy and environmental consulting services along with Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project development in Bangladesh to establish a low carbon economy within its boundary.
