The Rise and Fall of Clickbait Journalism

Catchy headlines aren't a new trick in the media game. Think back to the Great Moon Hoax in 1835 – it's always been about grabbing eyeballs and cash. But folks are wising up to bogus news, and studies say they're clicking on it less. Social media just makes the clickbait mess worse, shoving it in our faces and burying real news under a pile of junk. The good thing is, independent news outlets are proving that honesty pays. If big media wants to stay relevant, they need to chill out on the social media push and get back to being reliable. The future of news depends on truth, not cheap tricks.

From the ‘Great Moon Hoax’ of 1835, ‘Yellow Journalism’ has been around longer than you might imagine. But can it survive forever?

Women in tech are leading the way in Generative AI (GenAI), but challenges remain. A recent BCG study found that senior women in technical roles are using GenAI even more than their male peers. However, junior women are falling behind due to a lack of awareness, confidence, and risk-taking opportunities.
To close this gap, companies need to provide better training, support, and access to GenAI tools. Women in tech can also take charge by learning, experimenting, and staying ahead.

While there’s been progress, the gender disparity in tech remains significant. Women continue to face challenges like gender bias, unequal pay, and underrepresentation in leadership roles. Despite these hurdles, companies worldwide are taking steps to attract, retain, and support women in tech—and it’s showing promise.
In 2024, women hold just 28% of tech jobs globally, with a glaring lack of representation in fields like AI, cloud, and data. But change is possible! Here are some steps organizations can take to drive inclusivity:

The world is evolving fast, bringing new challenges and exciting opportunities. For Bangladesh, this is a time to strengthen its economy, embrace innovation, and build strategic partnerships for a brighter future.

First, as global trade dynamics shift, Bangladesh must diversify beyond industries like RMG. By focusing on sectors like tech, pharmaceuticals, and digital services, we can tap into new markets and reduce dependency on a single industry. Vietnam’s transition to electronics offers a successful example of diversification.
Second, the digital revolution is reshaping the global economy. To keep pace, Bangladesh must invest in education, digital infrastructure, and skills development, empowering our youth and entrepreneurs. Estonia’s digital transformation shows how tech can drive national success.

Third, Bangladesh’s graduation from LDC status in 2026 presents both challenges and opportunities. While we may lose some trade benefits, it opens doors for new trade agreements and stronger economic positioning, just as South Korea did during its transition.
Finally, regional and international cooperation remains crucial. Engaging in global discussions on trade, climate action, and innovation will help Bangladesh stay ahead and unlock new growth opportunities.

With the right strategies, Bangladesh can turn today’s challenges into stepping stones for success. The future is bright—it’s time to move forward with confidence.
