Senate Pacioli BD Organized Training on “Audit in a Nutshell”

As part of its commitment to continuous professional development, Senate Pacioli BD organized a technical training programme titled "Audit in a Nutshell" on 4 July 2026 at the KABBAKASH Building, Kawran Bazar, Dhaka.

The training was conducted by Asif Mohammed Abdullah, FCA who shared practical insights on the key stages of the audit process. The session covered audit risk assessment, audit planning and audit documentation including emphasizing the application of professional judgment and compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).

The programme was attended by 48 articled students and professional staff from the 13-member firms of Senate Pacioli BD. Several principals of the alliance firms along with the programme coordinator were also present the training and demonstrated their collective commitment to developing future accounting professionals and enhancing the technical capabilities of their firms.
Through practical examples and interactive discussions, participants gained a better understanding of risk-based auditing and the importance of effective planning and documentation in delivering high-quality audit engagements.

Senate Pacioli BD is an alliance of 13 Chartered Accountant firms located at the KABBAKASH Building, Kawran Bazar, Dhaka. The alliance is committed to organizes technical training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen the capacity of articled students and professional staff, encourage collaboration among member firms and indorse excellence in audit and assurance services in Bangladesh.

My Perspective on Finance Bill 2026

The proposed Finance Bill 2026 focuses on broadening the tax base, strengthening compliance, and accelerating the digital transformation of Bangladesh's tax and VAT administration.
Several proposals in the Finance Bill 2026 merit recognition. The increase in the tax-free income threshold is a positive measure that provides relief to individual taxpayers while acknowledging the impact of inflation and rising living costs. The introduction of a refund mechanism for excess tax deducted or collected at source addresses a long-standing concern of taxpayers and businesses. Furthermore, incentives for startups, technology-driven enterprises and renewable energy projects reflect a forward-looking policy approach aimed at fostering investment, innovation, and sustainable economic growth. The Bill also places significant emphasis on modernizing tax administration through digitalization which is expected to enhance transparency, improve administrative efficiency and tax compliance.

However, the Bill also introduces a higher compliance burden through expanded withholding tax obligations, enhanced reporting requirements and penalties for non-compliance.

Overall, Finance Bill 2026 is a reform-oriented and compliance-driven fiscal framework. Its success will depend on effective implementation, simplified procedures and constructive engagement between NBR and taxpayers.
