🚢 Proposing: World Safe Ship Recycling Day — June 26
Every year, hundreds of ships reach the end of their operational life. Many are dismantled on beaches with minimal safety standards, putting workers at risk and causing serious environmental damage.

On 26 June 2025, the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (HKC, 2009) finally entered into force — the world's first legally binding international framework dedicated to safe and sustainable ship recycling.

That's a milestone worth remembering. But right now, there's no global day that marks it.

That's why GreenHul Solution is proposing June 26 as "World Safe Ship Recycling Day."

A day to:
🔹 Honor the workers who dismantle ships in often hazardous conditions 🔹 Raise awareness about environmentally sound recycling practices
🔹 Push the industry toward full HKC compliance worldwide
🔹 Celebrate progress toward safer, greener ship recycling yards

Ship recycling is essential — it recovers steel, prevents waste, and keeps vessels out of the ocean. But it must be done safely, for people and for the planet.

We believe an annual global day can turn a legal milestone into lasting momentum — for policymakers, shipowners, recyclers, and workers alike.
