FBA Wholesale total Cost Breakdown:
1. Product Cost
This is the base price you pay to your supplier or manufacturer for each unit. It includes:
Manufacturing cost
Packaging from the supplier
Any customization or branding charges
Minimum order quantity (MOQ) pricing
2. Shipping Cost
The total cost to transport your inventory from the supplier to Amazon’s fulfillment center. This may include:
Air Freight: Fast, expensive, good for lightweight items
Sea Freight: Slow, cheaper, ideal for bulk shipments
SPD (Small Parcel Delivery): Boxes sent directly to Amazon
LTL (Less Than Truckload): Pallet shipments, cheaper than SPD for large quantities
FTL (Full Truckload): Whole truck shipments, best for very large loads
Customs duties, taxes, and port fees may also apply.
3. Amazon FBA Fees
These fees cover Amazon’s complete fulfillment service.
Fulfillment Fees:
Charged per unit
Covers picking, packing, shipping, customer service, and returns
Based on product size (standard vs. oversize) and weight
Storage Fees:
Monthly fee for storing inventory
Charged based on cubic feet
Higher rates during Q4 (Oct–Dec) due to peak season
Long-term storage fees may apply for items stored more than 365 days
4. Amazon Referral Fees
Amazon’s commission for selling on the platform
Charged as a percentage of the final sale price (including shipping)
Typically 15%, but varies by category (some are 8%, 12%, or 17%)
Automatically deducted from your payout
5. Prep Charge
These are costs for preparing products to meet Amazon’s packaging requirements:
Labeling (FNSKU labels)
Poly bagging
Bubble wrapping
Bundle prep
Suffocation warning application
Can be done by your supplier or Amazon (charged per unit).
6. Inbound Placement Fees
Amazon charges this when they split your inbound shipment and direct you to send inventory to multiple fulfillment centers.
Fees vary depending on:
Unit size and weight
Number of fulfillment centers used
Shipment placement option you choose (e.g., Amazon-optimized, partial, minimal)
7. Miscellaneous Fees
Other possible costs include:
Removal fees: To remove inventory from Amazon
Disposal fees: To dispose of unsellable or excess stock
Return processing fees: For certain categories
Unplanned service fees: If your shipment arrives without proper prep or labeling
Inventory placement errors or re-boxing fees
