City Bank's Project Green Flame is Bangladesh's first Carbon Credit Market-Supported CSR program that integrates biogas technology, carbon credit mechanisms, and community development. The project aims to promote sustainable rural livelihoods by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving access to clean cooking solutions, and empowering women and youth in rural areas. Cultivera Limited plays a vital role in this initiative by presumably contributing expertise in delivering the project's environmental and social goals.
The project combines the use of biogas technology—which converts organic waste to clean, renewable energy—with carbon credit support to create a sustainable funding and impact mechanism. This approach helps reduce harmful emissions while fostering economic uplift in the community, aligning with City Bank’s broader sustainability and green financing commitments.
City Bank has also been recognized as a leading sustainable bank in Bangladesh, actively supporting green finance solutions and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals in the country. Their sustainable projects include extensive support for renewable energy, climate resilience, and community empowerment through innovative financing and CSR programs like Project Green Flame.
