Practicing sports is a very short answer for the previous question. People think that there is no other answer for that question and think that just practicing sports or exercises will keep their bodies fit but, the truth is that sport is only one factor of the formula and you need to fulfill all the factors together in order to be fit.

Of course, practicing or playing any kind of sport is an important factor because it provides regular training for the body muscles and organs. This will keep them elastic and make you more resistant to aches and sprains but, there are other factors that you have to take care of too.

Sleep

Having good sleep every day for a specific number of hours is an essential ingredient in the formula too. Regular sleep means that your mind and body have their needed share of resting before practicing your daily activities once more. Regular sleeping increases the level of Serotonin "the happiness hormone" in your body and leaves you in a good mode all the time.

Diet

A common mistake that people always do is to think that as long as you are practicing then you can eat anything but, make sure that you are eating what is only beneficial for your body. If you stopped practicing for any reason and you are eating in a wrong way then you will see a huge increase in your weight.

When you combine the right practicing with good amount of sleep and the proper diet then you will have the real fitness you are looking for. It is very important to make sure the every item goes very well with the others in order to get the desired effect.

Fitness is very important and you need to make sure that everything is OK.

Imagine you could stop your thoughts, even if it were just for a few seconds. You would discover the peace and enlightenment of the NOW.

Our busy lives force us into constant thought about what problems we face or what errors we made or what injustices we suffered.

Quieting the mind enhances mind body fitness and strengthens the positive connection between the spiritual and physical YOU. In this state, healing the body occurs naturally.

Practicing the Power of Now
The Oprah Book Club selected, therapist-recommended The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is truly a masterpiece about learning to focus on the present moment. Concentrating on the NOW is something we do infrequently. That's because most of the time our minds are directed back in time to the past or forward in time to future deliberations.

The Power of Now explains the eradication of the "delusion of time" so that you can live peacefully (and joyfully) in your body. Rather than dive into the depths of this book, some critics recommend the companion book Practicing the Power of Now. It is a condensed version complete with exercises and meditations.

An Amazon reviewer of Practicing the Power of Now summarizes its message as follows:

'Free yourself from the tyranny of your thoughts and find peace. Yes, of course, the Buddha said much the same thing long ago. And many others have said the same thing since the Buddha. But Eckhart Tolle presented this enduring wisdom in a package that was devoid of rituals and beliefs, ones meant for another time and culture."

total body fitness is an equal ability in three different areas. The three areas are endurance, movement, and strength. The area you concentrate on most depends on what goals you wish to achieve. However, all three areas should be considered when training.

A marathon runner for example, is going to concentrate on endurance training, but still needs to work on their flexibility and strength. Their focus will be on endurance because they are looking to increase the amount of oxygen their body can supply to their muscles.

All oxygen requirements are supplied via the heart and lungs. Endurance training of any kind (like cardiovascular or endurance aerobic work) increases the productivity of the heart by making it a larger and stronger muscle. It also increases the capacity of the lungs and in doing so increases the amount of oxygen that is supplied to the muscles.

Once the oxygen has been delivered it can be used to release energy from stored reserves of fat and carbohydrates. As training continues the heart becomes much stronger and there is an increase in endurance levels for sustained periods of activity.

A weight lifter needs to focus on different areas of exercise. Their focus will be mainly on their strength training and this is achieved by weight resistance work. Muscles must be worked beyond their capacity in order for them to grow.

Weight training is an excellent form of exercise as it can be aerobic or anaerobic. Using a lower weight and repeating the move many times can improve muscular endurance. Using a heavier weight and completing a shorter amount of repetitions can improve strength.

The very least you can achieve from strength training is a more productive life with regards to lifting, correcting lazy posture, tiredness and being easily injured. Strength training increases your metabolic rate and the muscle fat ratio within your body.

Muscle is living tissue and requires energy to be sustained or grow larger. The stronger your body is the better chance it has to fight off injuries as you progress into old age. Weight training has been shown to develop bone density, which can help prevent Osteoporosis, (a degenerative bone disease particularly prone to target older men and women.)

Do not start high intensity weight training if you have a history of high blood pressure or heart problems, as high intensity training has been known to increase blood pressure levels. Always consult a doctor if you are unsure about your state of health and its impact on your fitness regime.

Remaining flexible is another very important feature of any exercise programme. By regular correct stretching it is possible to avoid injury and post work out muscle ache or stiffness. Stretching also enables you to keep full mobility and speeds up any recovery from injury.

It is always important to stretch when working out but it is vital to remember not to stretch until you are fully warmed up. It is best to do approximately 10-15 minutes of cardiovascular activity before attempting a stretching routine.

When warmed up the muscles are more flexible and can be extended much more easily avoiding unnecessary strains. A great way to incorporate stretching and strength is to take up yoga. Not only does yoga develop balance, posture, strength and great flexibility but also calmness and inner balance. This, of course, is another important requisite for the other side of fitness - mental fitness.

Regardless of your present level of fitness, you will derive great benefit from the practice of yoga which combines many different elements of fitness. Physically, yoga practice makes you feel better immediately whether you are a beginning student or the most advanced practitioner because it feels like the most natural thing to do at any level. Emotionally, your self-image improves tremendously because yoga is extremely personal and you will feel successful with any level of practice-there is absolutely no sense of competition because your practice has nothing at all to do with anyone else.

The physical part of the multi-dimensional body of yoga is called Hatha Yoga and is the form that is most popular in the West and it works on all your muscles, not just a few major ones. The poses, or 'asanas' as they are called, are aimed at stimulating not just the big muscles and nerves but also important internal organs and on releasing tension in areas of our bodies that are stress-prone, like the neck and lower back. Combined with the breathing exercises called Pranayama, it aims to gain total control of the body and thereby the mind and the spirit. Unlike other exercise programs that focus on only certain aspects of our physical health, like burning belly fat, strengthening the heart muscles with cardio or flattening our stomachs with abs development, yoga works on the whole body and is truly the ultimate full-body workout.

We are beginning to see an increased interest in holistic health alternatives nowadays and fitness now means more than just bodily health. The modern consciousness is beginning to sense that there is something missing and as a result, there is a growing popularity in things spiritual. With these alternative health and fitness trends becoming mainstream, yoga fits in perfectly. It is the best answer for those who seek physical fitness along with emotional wellbeing and spiritual healing-the ultimate whole body fitness program that has the added distinction of having been time tested over thousands of years.

Mind-body exercise is a form of movement that increases fitness in some way-muscular strength, aerobic levels, flexibility, balance-but also enables you to engage your mind in a non-judgmental way and with an inward-directed focus that may become contemplative.

What does that mean? In short, that means you ask your mind and your muscles to be present and accounted for and to stay intentionally connected to each other. Inward focus means you pay attention to what you are feeling in your muscles as well as your breathing. Through the focus comes the contemplative state attributed to mind-body practices. In addition, mind-body fitness is an outcome, while mind-body exercise is the process. Mind-body movement focuses on the present, not the future. There is no goal, just a continuing practice, which in most cases leads to overall wellness.

So, compared to traditional Western fitness routines where your goal may be to lose 10 pounds or drop three minutes from a 5-kilometer running time, mind-body fitness routines are about just being there and doing them. Build it and they will come. Do it and fitness will happen. This synergistic approach in health and exercise appeals to diverse people with different fitness levels and is appropriate in various life situations. The main aim is often to promote stress management and aid in the release of tension and discomfort caused by modern lifestyles.

To achieve the mind-body connection, various traditional as well as innovative new exercise programs have gained in popularity in recent times. Many of these programs are based on both modern fitness methods and traditional disciplines, and draw their inspiration from the following mind-body techniques and methods, scientific approaches and holistic healing therapies:

Tai Chi--This graceful form of exercise looks like karate in slow motion. The gentle choreography rotates the body in 95 percent of the ways it was intended to move. Best balancing exercise known, also lubricates joints so it's great for seniors. Improves coordination, mental focus and flexibility so it's great for athletes. Research shows it is also very beneficial for children.

Yoga--A series of physical poses aimed at integrating mind, body and spirit, and achieving a state of enlightenment or oneness with the universe while increasing strength and flexibility.

Pilates--Conditioning method developed by Joseph Pilates. Combines Eastern and Western philosophies of physical and mental development, and aims to promote neuro-muscular harmony while focusing mainly on the core stabilizing muscles in the body.

Other forms of mind/body fitness include Meditation, NIA, Ai Chi (Tai Chi in the water), Feldenkrais Method, Chi Ball, Alexander technique and many others. All of the above listed forms of fitness are believed to balance the mind and body and may focus on the physical, psychological or spiritual, or a combination of all three.

1. All day our mind suffers stress and tension, be it personal or professional. Yoga helps in clearing out all the clutter from our mind and makes it absolutely clear and calm, ready to take on any challenge!

2. Yoga can help tons to people who are nervous or are vulnerable to panic attacks. It simplifies breathing and restores normalcy in the body.

5. Our body acts as a machine to the various challenges or tasks that it faces each day. It needs a certain tonic which can rejuvenate it before the onset of a strenuous day, and yoga has all the qualities in it to become an energy boosting tonic for the body. In short, yoga and body fitness, are in a way essential for people who need to thrive in a competitive world.

6. To view yoga`s importance from a much broader angle, it can well be said that it helps purify the soul. It supports a person in achieving contentment and peace within this materialistic world.

Yoga literally means fusion - it is a fusion of our body and mind achieved through various postures. It is just a regular exercise which needs focus on our part. Yoga does not take up much time, but requires immense devotion while doing it. Many of us fail to understand the fact that performing yoga and body fitness are interconnected, but it is true.

A fit body and mind can recognize the worth of a devoted session of yoga done regularly. The results begin to show very soon but that does not mean that yoga should be discontinued after the problems disappear. It should be viewed as a habit which needs to inculcate within. If performed daily, our body shall remain prepared to face any disease/challenge. Both, yoga and body fitness should be every person`s lifelong partner.

However there are some first time precautions which need to be taken care of before venturing into yoga.
