🌿 Building a Greener, More Resilient Narayanganj
Development Solutions Consultant Limited (DSCL) is proud to contribute to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Narayanganj Green and Resilient Urban Development Project (NGRUDP), covering all 27 wards of Narayanganj City Corporation.
As part of the assessment, a Public Consultation Meeting (PCM) brought together the City Corporation’s Administrator and officials, representatives of the Department of Environment, local stakeholders, community representatives, and the project’s consultant team. The meeting provided an opportunity to share assessment findings, hear community concerns, and discuss measures to address potential environmental and social impacts.
DSCL’s Environmental Specialist and Team Leader, Md. Shafiqur Rahman, presented the key aspects of the assessment, including existing environmental and social conditions, potential project impacts, and proposed mitigation measures.
Participants highlighted challenges related to irregular water supply, water quality, limited pipeline connections, inadequate drainage, and persistent waterlogging. Discussions also emphasized controlling dust and noise, managing construction waste, maintaining access and traffic movement, protecting the Sh*talakhya River and other water bodies, and ensuring worker and community safety.
The project aims to improve water supply and distribution, strengthen drainage and waterlogging management, enhance parks and green spaces, and build urban climate resilience. The City Corporation’s Administrator expressed optimism about its potential to improve public services and the quality of life of Narayanganj’s residents.
