Specified Skilled Worker(SSW)Program
(SSW: SSW1 & SSW2)
Eligibility Criteria for the Specific Skilled Worker (SSW) Visa -
1.Age : Must be at least 18 Years Old.
2.Health : Must be in good Health(Health and Background Check of Medical).
3.Japan Skills Assessment -
Skills: Possess the necessary skills to work in the specified industry without further training.
Skills Examination: Pass a skills examination specific to the industry.
4.Japanese Language Test Pass : Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic)/Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)(N4)
Key Features of the Specific Skilled Worker (SSW)Visa-
Specified Skilled Worker(SSW) is a status of residence created to give foreign nationals more opportunities to work in Japan.
The SSWV is divided into two categories: SSW1 and SSW2 that both differ in their features and the level of demand.
1. SSW1 Visa:
· Duration: The SSW1 visa can be for up to five years and can be renewed.
· Eligibility: The applicants must sit for a Japanese language test (JLPT N4 or above) and a functional test depending on the field of specialization.
· Industries: The SSW1 visa is for 14 sectors, such as building, food and beverage, farming, production lines, and childcare.
· Benefits: The SSW1 visa allows working in Japan but the visa holder cannot be joined by his family members. However, it is possible to move to SSW2 visa which is more advantageous than the previous one.
The Specified Skilled Worker (i) Status of Residence-
You can work in Japan for a total of five years.
You cannot bring your family to Japan.
You receive the same salary as Japanese workers.
You receive Japanese language training.
You receive various forms of support from your company.
2. SSW2 Visa:
· Duration: The SSW2 visa doesn’t have a validity period and can be renewed repeatedly.
· Eligibility: While progressing from SSW1 to SSW2, the workers must accumulate experience in the field and pass other exams.
· Industries: At the moment, the SSW2 visa is allowed only for the construction and shipbuilding sectors. However, more industries may be included in future releases of the standard.
· Benefits: SSW2 visa holders can bring their families to Japan and have the potential to apply for permanent residency after a certain period.
The Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Status of Residence-
No duration restrictions
You can bring your family to Japan.
