Why you should NOT hold your breath
while exercising.
Did you know?
The human body makes use of oxygen
independent and oxygen dependent systems
to generate energy used for exercising.
The oxygen independent systems is used to
generate instant energy during the first
seconds - minute of an exercise and the
oxygen dependent generate energy used for
longer periods of exercise. In other words
the oxygen independent energy systems are
responsible for the quick boost to get
started and the oxygen dependent to keep
you going.
This means if you hold your breath while
doing an exercise that exceeds a minute
period, you cut of your energy supply,
which obviously makes it a lot harder to
perform the exercise.
So next time you do an exercise that need a
bit of "digging deep", don't hold your
breath!
