One small component held up about 1,000 Porsches at the border.

The final assembly was not the issue.

In this clip from the Ethisphere webinar, VECTRA International CEO Patrick Neyts explains the four words at the center of Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930: wholly or in part.

They mean that a component made under forced labor conditions can put the entire finished product at risk, even when it sits several tiers away.

That is what turns forced labor from an ethics issue into a business continuity issue.

This Women’s Equality Day, review one workplace process. Check whether the criteria are clear, decisions are consistent and women have a fair opportunity to progress.

Good intentions matter. Fair systems make them real.

Everyone passed the course. So why hasn't the work changed?

Course completion is useful evidence of learning. It is not, by itself, evidence that an organization can perform differently.

Capability develops when people can apply new knowledge inside a real process, receive support when conditions change, and see whether the new behavior improves performance.

That requires more than access to training. Teams also need:

• A clear use case
• Time and tools to practice
• Manager reinforcement
• Feedback and coaching
• Measures linked to the job

When learning is connected to implementation, it becomes part of how the business operates.

The audit report is a starting point. The performance change happens afterward.

A credible post-audit process should move through five stages:

1. Confirm the finding and its evidence.
2. Assess the risk and immediate containment needs.
3. Identify root causes, including buyer-side factors where relevant.
4. Assign corrective actions, owners, resources, and dates.
5. Verify that the action worked and the issue has not returned.

Closing the corrective-action form is not the same as confirming effectiveness. The final check should examine implementation, evidence, results, and recurrence.

How does your organization verify that post-audit actions are working?

A red scorecard tells you something is wrong. It doesn't tell you why.

Before assigning blame, test four possibilities:

• A supplier process or capability gap
• A buyer-created constraint
• A failure in the shared process
• An external condition affecting both parties

The category matters because each one requires a different response. More supplier training will not correct unstable buyer forecasts. A revised buyer process will not repair weak supplier quality control.

Use the scorecard to locate the problem. Use evidence and root-cause analysis to choose the action.
