We’re at AAFA’s 2026 Vietnam: Apparel & Footwear Compliance Conference in Ho Chi Minh City today, and one question kept coming up on the floor: how do you prove compliance is actually working, not just that a policy exists for it?

Today is World Mental Health Day. Here's a term worth knowing: psychosocial risk.

It's the part of a job that affects mental wellbeing, workload, unclear reporting lines, or a culture where raising a concern feels unsafe. It doesn't show up on a checklist the way a broken machine does. It shows up in turnover, in silence where a concern should have been raised, and in the quality of the work itself.

This year's theme is Lived Experiences Heard, because the people closest to a problem usually know the fix before anyone else does.

What is mental health, actually?

According to the World Health Organization, it's not simply the absence of a diagnosed condition. It's a state of wellbeing that lets people cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to the people around them.

WHO estimates that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health condition at some point in their life. That's not a niche issue. That's most workplaces, most families, most rooms you've ever been in.

This Saturday is World Mental Health Day. This year's theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health: Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.
