EVEN OUR LABELS HAVE A STORY ♻️

Bij Soufiane in Marrakech worden onze lederen poefs nog helemaal met de hand gemaakt. En zoals in elk atelier blijven daar restjes leder van over. Te klein voor een nieuwe poef, maar véél te mooi om weg te gooien.

Dus kopen wij die restjes op. We kiezen de mooiste kleuren, snijden ze in kleine stukjes en geven ze één voor één onze SOUK in the CITY-stempel.

En zo krijgt wat anders afval zou zijn, een tweede leven als onze eigen signature tag. Je vindt ze ondertussen terug aan heel wat stukken uit onze collectie.

Een klein detail misschien. Maar eentje waar eigenlijk ons hele verhaal in zit: handgemaakt, met zorg gekozen en zoveel mogelijk hergebruikt.

Want mooie materialen verdienen soms gewoon een tweede leven. ❤️

Lang voor ik wist hoeveel Marokko later nog voor mij zou betekenen 🫶🏼

Bijna 20 jaar geleden.
Toen al gebeten door fotografie.
En toen al een beetje verliefd op 🇲🇦

Sometimes clarity comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.

The past months I took on a completely different professional challenge.
For the first time in a very long time, I stepped outside life as an entrepreneur and into a world that was new to me.

And I’m genuinely grateful I did.

It challenged me, taught me a lot and gave me a different perspective on work, entrepreneurship — and on myself.

But sometimes trying something new also makes very clear where you belong.

For me, that is entrepreneurship.
Creating. Building. Following my intuition. Making choices and taking responsibility for them.

And SOUK in the CITY.

What started from a deeply rooted love for Morocco, its people, craftsmanship, colours and stories has grown into something far more beautiful than I ever dared to dream.

For a while, I tried to combine too many things.
Now I’m choosing differently.

Less distraction.
Less doubt.
More focus.

There is a lot I want to rebuild, rethink and grow — from the collection and webshop to wholesale, new sourcing trips and all the stories behind SOUK that I’ve shared far too little.

So this is not a comeback.

SOUK never left.

It’s simply me choosing, very consciously, to put my energy back into the place where my heart, creativity and entrepreneurial drive have always been.

And I’m very ready for what comes next.

A little reminder… this is the final month of our showroom.

After that, SOUK in the CITY will continue by appointment, through our webshop and with our beloved B2B partners. Same passion, same treasure hunts, just a new chapter.

And yes… a new buying trip to Morocco is already planned for this autumn. We can’t wait to discover new handmade pieces, meet our artisans again and bring back another collection full of stories.

Sometimes we forget how far a small idea can travel ✨

Four years ago, SOUK in the CITY started as a passion project built around sourcing trips to Morocco, endless hours in the souks, colorful rooftops, artisan workshops and a deep love for craftsmanship.

What began with a few handmade treasures slowly grew into an international wholesale brand working with 550+ retail partners across 22 countries.

Still independently built.
Still crafted in Morocco.
Still rooted in human connection, storytelling and soulful design.

And honestly… that part makes me the proudest 🤍

Thank you to every boutique, concept store, buyer and customer who became part of this journey.
