💡 The European Commission's new European Sovereignty Package brings together key initiatives to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, strategic autonomy, and geoeconomic position in the digital age. From chips to cloud, from to in , it aims to build a more resilient, sustainable, and innovation-driven digital infrastructure for Europe.

At its core, the package scales sovereign alternatives across the digital stack, boosting Europe’s capacity to develop and control critical technologies. It also integrates digital infrastructure into the system more intelligently, using AI to support a greener, more efficient, and secure energy transition.

Flagship measures include an EU OpenSource Strategy, a 2.0 to grow advanced semiconductor production and reduce strategic dependencies, and a Development Act to triple Europe’s capacity. Together, these initiatives aim to ensure that Europe can design, produce, and operate the technologies it relies on, rather than depending on external providers.

For European citizens and businesses, this means more trusted digital services, better control over their data, and a more robust EU industry base that underpins jobs and at home. It is also a signal of Europe’s ambition to remain a global standard-setter in and infrastructure, not just a rule-taker.

🚆 One journey, one ticket, full rights.

The European Commission’s new Package aims to make travel across Europe easier to search, compare and book, especially for cross-border and multi-operator rail journeys.

The proposal would require platforms to display offers in a neutral and transparent way, improve access to rail tickets across online platforms, and ensure stronger passenger rights when connections are missed under a single ticket.

For travellers, this means simpler booking, better protection and clearer options across operators and borders.
