This week, MEPs gathered in for the second October plenary session, with key votes on the 2027 EU budget, environmental legislation, critical raw materials and transport. The European Parliament backed a three-year postponement of methane monitoring and reporting requirements, pushing the deadline to 2031, well beyond the European Commission’s proposed one-year delay.

The European Commission also unveiled its Vision 2040 for fisheries and aquaculture, outlining priorities for decarbonisation, fleet renewal and administrative simplification, while stopping short of a comprehensive reform of the Common Fisheries Policy.
