Thank you to everyone who showed up and showed out! ✨

I still get chills thinking about this evening!

Our event in Leuven, was the first event we organised for The Rift Between Us, where we showed our official trailer (not to be confused with the teaser shown on our page).

The evening was filled with honest, truthful and sharp conversations about us, women and the relationships we have with ourselves (and men), our paths and our journeys.

Thank you to the public for your thought provoking questions, which definitely made me think about the importance of which story lines and images I will include the documentary (we’re in the final stages of the editing process 🤞🏾).

So so so grateful for your support and kind words during and after the evening.

Can’t wait to see you all on Wednesday evening, 30th of September in Cinema Galeries in Brussels. All information will follow in due time. But for now block the 30th in your agenda.

Can’t wait to see you there and remember to take your brothers, cousins, uncles, and male friends with you. We are all part of this community and more so conversation. 💗

This post is here to bring clarity to our trailer event. In this way, we hope to avoid any misunderstandings or incorrect expectations.

We’ve noticed that many people assume we will be screening the full documentary next Thursday, but that is not the case. If this was not communicated clearly on our part, we sincerely apologise.

The full screening of The Rift Between Us will take place later this year, and everything regarding the official premiere will be communicated in due time via our page.

Next Thursday, we will be hosting our trailer event evening: an intimate first encounter with the film through an extended version of the teaser (which is already online 😉) alongside conversations, performances, and dialogue around the themes of the documentary, together with the participants ✨

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you there 🥰🤗

We are looking forward to welcoming YOU on May 28 for our trailer event evening of The Rift Between Us.

This evening is designed as a first encounter, a space to introduce the conversations the documentary seeks to open. It’s an invitation to engage with the themes, the “why” behind the film, and the urgency of the subject: misogynoir.

During the evening, we will share an exclusive first glimpse of the documentary through its trailer. This is not to be confused wit the official premiere, which will take place later this year.

More than just a screening, this trailer evening creates an intimate space for open and honest dialogue around misogynoir. It will give you an understanding of how and why misogynoir manifests, in this way you’ll be better equipped to understand the documentary.

•What if what we call “preference” is rooted in colonial conditioning?
•What does it mean to choose freely in a where world where none of us are truly neutral in what we’re drawn to or taught to reject?

The Rift Between Us is a documentary that sheds light on misogynoir and its impact on romantic relationships. It opens up conversations around colorism, texturism, stereotypes, sexism and (internalised) racism. This docu explores how these -isms shape women’s self-image and inner world .

This documentary is about misogynoir specifically in Belgium, it brings an overlooked form of sexism into focus. Through honest and vulnerable storytelling, the film combines personal experiences with insights from experts.

🎬Join us on May 28th, we’re hosting a trailer event to invite you into the story and offer a first glimpse of the narratives explored in the documentary. The full program will be shared soon.

Allows us to reintroduce ourselves ✨

After two years of carefully working on Us Women we are proud to finally share our rebranding.

Us Women, as the name suggests has always been about women’s stories and authenticity. This platform specifically focuses on Sub-Saharan African women in Belgium. Due to a lack of information on the lived experiences of this group, a group that keeps gradually growing in Belgium. We find it important to create a platform where us, women are centered.

This platform brings a mix of informative, creative and inspiring posts and events carefully placing the lived experiences of Sub-Saharan women to the centre.

We are excited to share our first film project with you called: The Rift Between Us 🎥
