Last year I created a holiday illustration for Marlinks & Fluves, two companies working in subsea and infrastructure cable monitoring. What started as humorous concepts with robots and mech suits evolved into one large group cartoon featuring all 27 employees, each drawn from internal mugshots and paired with a personal detail instead of a technical one. I seriously underestimated the amount of work, but it turned into a valuable and surprisingly personal learning experience — and one of the projects that helped make 2025 such a great year for me as an illustrator. I’m sharing sketches, rejected ideas, and the full story on my portfolio and in a blog post about this project — feel free to take a look.

A custom illustrated New Year’s greeting card for Daniel Freund and his team at the Greens / European Free Alliance

Titled “Suspiciously Festive”, the illustration shows Daniel investigating a set of rather questionable presents — subtle nods to companies his team has challenged over the past year in the fight against corruption and for transparency in European politics. A smooth collaboration with clear briefing, fast feedback, plenty of humor, and real storytelling. Fully human-made illustration, modern iconography, and a project I’m proud of — because good visualisation and graphic design can support a very good cause.

Sommige projecten betekenen gewoon meer.
Voor maakte ik illustraties rond hun vier grote doelen voor een rechtvaardigere samenleving — over leren, diversiteit, verbinding en participatie.

Het was veel meer dan een ontwerpopdracht. Het was een lang, bedachtzaam proces over wat voor wereld we willen. Want terwijl bange, boze mensen nog altijd multiculturaliteit verwarren met bedreiging of chaos, geloof ik dat er maar één zinvol antwoord is: blijven bouwen aan verbinding. Blijven kiezen voor inclusie, dialoog en empathie.

Daarom is dit werk belangrijk. Het is geen versiering. Het is overtuiging in beeld. 💛
