? What you see in the picture: a cotton spinning mill in Bangladesh. What you don’t see: the massive heat, fiber fly, dry air and loud noise from the bale opening, carding and spinning machines, that make it impossible to communicate with one another. Transforming raw material into yarn will always stay pure fascination for me. I always say, if everyone had the chance to visit a spinning mill once in their life, they would probably change their consuming habit forever. Just the spinning process alone is so complex with all that heavy machinery, it is so time and resource consuming that it makes it hard to understand how it is possible to sell clothes for cheap prices, especially considering that it is only one of the many production steps within a textile supply chain. Other than the garment manufacturing, this production step is mainly automized, no water is needed in the cotton spinning process, but a lot of energy. Cotton is highly flammable, therefore the implementation for fire safety is always one of our key concerns at this state.
