This article is outright mocking anyone who works in healthcare, with the dedication and ambition as it should be. They want to put a plaster again on a necrotizing wound, which makes everyone in the field laugh in the meantime. We were celebrated during time of COVID-19, while doing the same work that is expected of us every day. Just stop the hypocrisy! Doctors and nurses are monitored by our government for every intervention we make, as if it were justifiable. The journalists did not dare to write anythoing negative about doctors or nurses for a period of two years, until the worst had past around the Corona storm. Less than a week later, an article appeared in the Belgian press about the villainy nature of home nurses, as if they had taken advantage of a crisis period. If people and governments want to help us, there is no need for extensive (insanely expensive) investigations, just let is do our job, have faith in us and let us take care of our patients!
As European health and care systems are threatened by possible shortages of workers, the conversation turns towards improving the working conditions. Paying attention to mental health has an important role here.
