📢 The latest Assist Project EU newsletter is out!

As Assist Project EU enters the final months of its three-year journey, the project is moving from research to practical application, translating evidence and lived experiences into tools, learning opportunities and long-term impact.

In this latest edition, you can discover:

🔹 Key findings from the ASSIST Transnational Report on the barriers faced by mothers with disabilities across Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Croatia

🔹 The new ASSIST Digital Ecosystem, including free multilingual e-learning and interactive 3D clinical scenarios for healthcare professionals and medical students

🔹 Insights on how disability, gender, communication, economic inequality and other factors intersect in shaping maternal healthcare experiences

🔹 Recent awareness-raising activities around patient safety, equal pay, sign language, reproductive choice and mental health

🔹 An overview of what ASSIST has achieved so far and how its resources can continue supporting more inclusive maternal healthcare.

📅 Save the date: ASSIST Final Conference

The project will conclude with “Amplifying the Voices of Mothers with Disabilities”, taking place on 18 November 2026, 14:30–16:30 CET, at the European Parliament in Brussels. Hosted by MEP Rosa Estaràs, the conference will bring together women with disabilities, healthcare professionals, educators, advocates, project partners and other stakeholders to reflect on the project’s findings, resources and recommendations. Participation will be possible in person and via web stream.

As a partner in the ASSIST consortium, ReadLab Brussels is proud to contribute to this collective effort to promote more accessible, respectful and inclusive maternal healthcare across Europe.

🌍⚡ Power-VET Project Kenya Kick-off Meeting – ReadLab Brussels joins consortium partners in .

From 6–7 May, the Power-VET Project team convened for a two-day in-person workshop at Strathmore University in Nairobi. The meeting brought together eight partner institutions from , , and to strengthen collaboration, align implementation strategies, and clarify roles across the project's work packages.

ReadLab Brussels was proud to participate as a key partner, contributing our expertise in digital education and quality assurance to this important initiative. Launched in January 2025, the three-year Power-VET Project aims to strengthen vocational education and training ( ) in Kenya by equipping trainers with critical competencies in renewable energy and energy efficiency, focusing on solar energy, wind energy, energy storage, and microgrids enabled through digitization, IoT, and other digital technologies.

Our contribution to the project centres on:
💻 Developing the Virtual Learning Environment and Open Educational Resources to support VET trainers
📋 Leading quality assurance and evaluation processes, including feedback systems
🎨 Managing the project's visual identity and website

The workshop provided an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas, align on deliverables, and deepen engagement with our partners from Strathmore University, Strathmore Energy Research Centre, Eastlands College of Technology, Machakos University, TVET-CDACC KENYA, Citiscope Training Institute, Ολυμπιακή Εκπαιδευτική, and the Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Αττικής - University of West Attica.

A sincere thank you to the Strathmore University team for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation. We look forward to the journey ahead as the Power-VET Project continues to foster innovation, capacity building, and sustainable impact across partner institutions and communities.

📅 World Technology and Innovation Day: Building the Future, Together

Here at ReadLab Brussels, we believe that innovation isn't just about technology, it's about who gets to build it.

Today, on World Technology and Innovation Day, we're asking a critical question: Where are all the girls in STEM?

The reality across Europe:

🔹 Women remain underrepresented in technology, engineering, and digital careers.

🔹 In Belgium, while girls excel in STEM subjects at school, they are far less likely to pursue technology-focused higher education or research careers.

🔹 Gender stereotypes and institutional barriers continue to steer young girls away from innovation, before they even get a chance to start.

🌍 That's why ReadLab Brussels is proud to be a partner in Project Stream It.

We are putting our expertise in digital education and e-learning platforms to work - designing accessible, engaging, and gender-inclusive Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) where girls and young women can explore STEAM without barriers.

What we're building together:

✅ Online toolkits that break gender stereotypes in the classroom
✅ Mentoring programmes connecting young talents with female role models in technology and research
✅ A Virtual Makerspace where creativity meets technology

🚀 Excited to kick off the Erasmus+ BET Project!

In January 2026, the BET – Alliance for Skills, Sustainability, and Innovation in Emerging Tourism Types officially started, bringing together a consortium of 14 partners across 7 European countries 🇧🇪🇭🇷🇮🇹🇪🇸🇸🇮🇵🇹🇬🇷

🌍 The project aims to accelerate the transformation of the tourism sector by equipping professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and educators with the skills and tools needed to embrace sustainable, digital, and regenerative tourism models.

From Scientific Tourism and Roots Tourism to Digital Nomadism and Metaverse Tourism, BET will support SMEs in transitioning towards innovative and future-ready practices.

💡 To achieve this, BET will develop a Future Digital Tourism Learning Ecosystem, including:

- an e-learning platform
- interactive training experiences
- AI-powered tools
and new skills profiles aligned with labour market needs

Over the next months, we will engage hundreds of learners and trainers, fostering a more resilient, innovative, and competitive tourism ecosystem in Europe and beyond.
