A few weeks ago we met up with Minister Bart Somers to discuss the possibilities of AI for local governments and its ethical consequences.

In our debate, Bart Somers made it clear that governments need to be encouraged and inspired to incorporate digital tools and AI. But while it is clear that AI is needed in a digital future, there are still some ethical concerns.

Our open debate about how to use AI to provide better services to citizens, made the newspapers!

Minister Bart Somers joined the discussion and announced that 46 Flemish cities and municipalities will further digitalize their local government. AI will play a big role in this.

Today Minister Bart Somers joined our inspirational afternoon where we discussed multiple challenges the public sector faces and how AI can help solve them.

For example, we showed them how we use powerful AI tools to automatically transcribe municipal councils to make them publicly available in a search engine for citizens or how chatbots can help you to be more accessible to your multilingual population.

He will take part of our discussion about how to use AI to provide better services to citizens and look at the possibilities of AI for his city, Mechelen.

We're excited to announce that we'll be working on a recommendation engine with Resengo (and the support of Agentschap Innoveren & Ondernemen) this year!

In this research project, we aim to match the right customer to the right restaurant at Resengo, by taking into account their preferences, previous reservations and similar profiles. In doing so, we use an in-house data warehouse in Azure, user input, reviews (like Facebook, Tripadvisor or Google) and restaurant profiles.

Today our Microsoft Azure AI Immersion Workshop took place. 👨‍💻

When we started the workshop, we asked our participants what they most wanted to learn. The vast majority wanted an introduction into the Azure AI platform. So we did!

We showed them the different Azure AI services like conversational AI, knowledge mining, document process automation and machine learning. At the end of the day, the participants were ready to deploy Azure-enabled AI projects for their businesses.
