Day one of 2026 is underway, and what a great start it's been. Huge thanks to the AV MEDIA team for putting together a conference that gets better every year, and to everyone who's attended and talked to us.

Brilliant to have Araceli Vaello, Walter Wiesner and Miloš Tourek representing CinemaNext in Prague this week - on and off stage - talking seating, solutions, and how to make life a bit easier (and more profitable) for Czech exhibitors.

🍿 Congratulations to REEL Cinema Bishop Auckland on the opening of their brand-new seven-screen multiplex in Bishop Auckland.

A huge thank you to the Reel team for the warm welcome to "Bish" at last Thursday's opening night at Fieldon Bridge Retail & Leisure Park, and for trusting CinemaNext to help deliver this excellent new site.

True to its tagline as "The Reel Heart of the Community", Reel's latest cinema brings a modern, comfortable filmgoing experience to County Durham, complete with a licensed bar, integrated coffee shop, and a strong accessibility programme (autism-friendly, audio-described, parent and baby, senior and subtitled performances), alongside the best in event cinema and the latest blockbusters.

It has been a real pleasure working with the Reel Cinema team on this project, and we wish everyone in Bishop Auckland many great nights at the pictures.

🎬 Das Wiener Bellaria Kino ist zurück !

Nach mehr als fünf Jahren Schließung hat eines der ikonischsten Kinos Wiens letzten Monat wieder seine Türen geöffnet. Gegründet 1911, war das Bellaria immer mehr als nur ein Kino. Es ist eine Kulturinstitution, die untrennbar mit dem Herz dieser Stadt verbunden ist.

Die Modernisierung eines denkmalgeschützten Gebäudes für den zeitgemäßen Kinobetrieb ist alles andere als einfach. Unser österreichisches Team stellte sich der Herausforderung: Installation einer kabinenlosen Projektion mit einem Barco Cinema Laserprojektor und unserer P-SBOX Hushbox, professionellen JBL Lautsprechern & Verstärkern mit neuer Schalldämmung sowie 123 brandneuen roten Samtstühlen von Ezcaray Seating, und das alles, ohne den historischen Charakter des Gebäudes auch nur im Geringsten zu verändern.

Wie Mitinhaber Michael Stejskal es sagte: „Grundsatzmäßig wäre es billiger gewesen, alles abzureißen und komplett neu zu bauen. Aber das war natürlich keine Option.“

Das Ergebnis? Ein hochmodernes Boutique-Kino, das sich genau so anfühlt, wie es schon immer hätte sein sollen — zeitlos und dennoch für die Gegenwart gemacht.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch an Sophie Stejskal und Michael Stejskal, und willkommen zurück, Bellaria. 🍿

🎬 Vienna's historic Bellaria Kino is back !

After more than five years of closure, one of Vienna's most iconic cinemas reopened its doors last month. Founded in 1911, the Bellaria has always been more than just a cinema. It's a cultural institution, woven into the very fabric of the city.

Renovating a listed heritage building for modern cinema exhibition is never straightforward. Our Austrian team rose to the challenge: installing a full boothless projection setup with a Barco Cinema laser projector and our CinemaNext P-SBOX hushbox, JBL Professional speakers & amplifiers with new soundproofing, and 123 brand-new red velvet Ezcaray Seating seats, all while preserving every inch of the building's historic character.

As co-owner Michael Stejskal put it: "In principle, it would have been cheaper to tear everything down and build completely new. But that was naturally not an option."

The result? A state-of-the-art boutique cinema that feels timeless, yet built for today.

CinemaNext is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Mitchell as UK & Ireland Country Manager.

Richard brings more than 15 years of experience in the cinema industry, most recently serving as SVP Innovation – Cinema at Harkness Screens, and as President of the Cinema Technology Community (CTC). He is widely recognized for his industry expertise, customer focus, and collaborative approach.

In his new role, he will lead CinemaNext’s UK & Ireland activities, focusing on strengthening client relationships, expanding market presence, and supporting the company’s continued growth in the region.

His appointment reflects CinemaNext’s commitment to investing in local leadership and delivering high-quality solutions and services to exhibitors across the UK & Ireland.
