Hello Sam, As told in my text message, at the end of the Second World War, there were 2 RAF pilots who came to eat several times at my grandparents' house. According to the drawings that precede and follow in the notebook, this must have been between December 1944 and April 1945. My grandmother had met one of the 2 pilots in a park in Ghent, and he had made her understand that he was hungry. My grandmother then gave him her address (Willem Tellstraat 23 in Ghent), and he came to eat in the evening. He asked if he could come back with a friend, also a pilot.
According to the story that my mother told me (she was 12 years old at the time), their plane had crashed not far from Ghent, they had reached the city on foot and were waiting to join their group.
It was when my mother passed away in July 2020 and I was clearing out her apartment that I came across her sketchbook. That's how I came across the pilots' drawings again, and I thought that maybe their descendants would be happy to have these drawings.

Ma grand-mère avait rencontré un des 2 pilotes dans un parc à Gand, et il lui avait fait comprendre qu’il avait faim. Ma grand-mère lui a alors donné son adresse (Willem Tellstraat 23 à Gent), et il est venu le soir manger. Il a demandé si il pouvait revenir avec un ami, également pilote.
D’après l’histoire que ma mère m’a raconté (elle avait 12 ans à l’époque), leurs avion s’était craché pas très loin de Gand, ils avaient rejoint la ville à pieds et ils attendaient pour rejoindre leur groupe.
Je n’en sait malheureusement pas plus.
C’est lorsque ma mère est décédée en juillet 2020 et que j’ai vidé son appartement, que je suis tombé sur son cahier de dessins. C’est ainsi que je suis retombée sur les dessins des pilotes, et que je me suis dis que peut-être leurs descendants serait heureux d’avoir ces dessins.
Mais, comment faire pour savoir qui ils sont et ou ils se trouvent ?
De plus que je ne maîtrise pas très bien l’anglais.
