From the saltworks to the shelf.

Behind every pack of sea salt, there is much more than what we see on the shelf.

There are months of work guided by the sun, wind and sea. There is the knowledge of generations of salt farmers, the careful management of the saltworks, harvesting, processing and preparation before the final product reaches consumers.

Sea salt is the result of a journey where nature, time and human expertise work together.

At SEASALT Europe, we want to bring recognition to every step and every person behind sea salt.

Happy French Fries Day!

There’s one ingredient that turns great fries into unforgettable ones: sea salt.

Through centuries-old traditions, sea salt enhances flavour while reflecting the authenticity, craftsmanship, and natural origins behind every crystal.

At SEASALT Europe, we celebrate the people and the saltworks that make this simple combination a timeless favourite.

Because some classics never go out of style: crispy fries and sea salt.

Summer is the season when many swimming pools rely on salt electrolysis to help keep their water clean, safe and pleasant to use.

By using salt dissolved in the pool water, this system generates disinfecting agents directly and continuously, offering an effective solution for water treatment while reducing the need to handle and store certain traditional chemical products.
It is another example of how sea salt goes far beyond the table, playing an important role in everyday applications linked to health, wellbeing and more responsible resource use.

Sea salt: a natural resource with many possibilities.

Sea salt on the airwaves 🌊🧂

We are pleased to share an audio extract from a recent report broadcast ('Españoles en la mar' - 'Spaniards at Sea') by RTVE, Spain’s national public radio and television corporation.

The feature highlights the value of traditional sea salt production and includes the participation of several SEASALT Europe members from the Bay of Cádiz area, a territory where sea saltworks form part of a unique cultural, environmental and productive landscape.

This kind of media coverage helps bring greater visibility to our sector and to the people working every day to preserve and promote sea salt production across Europe.

Today, on the Day of the Seafarer, SEASALT Europe recognizes the invaluable contribution of all those whose lives and work are connected to the sea.

For centuries, sea salt producers have shared a unique relationship with coastal environments, transforming seawater into one of humanity’s oldest and most essential natural resources while helping to preserve unique coastal ecosystems.
Behind every grain of sea salt are generations of knowledge, dedication and respect for the sea.

We thank all maritime professionals and coastal communities who contribute every day to keeping this heritage alive.

On the European Day of Parks, we celebrate the natural spaces that safeguard Europe’s biodiversity and environmental heritage.
For generations, traditional sea salt farming has shaped and sustained wetlands of remarkable ecological importance. Today, many of these unique environments are protected as natural parks and provide vital habitats for a wide variety of animal and plant species.
More than production sites, sea saltworks are living ecosystems where nature and human activity have evolved together in balance.
At SEASALT Europe, we believe protecting sea salt heritage means protecting the ecosystems that sea saltworks help create and sustain.
