With the world economy slowly reviving after the shock of the COVID crisis, it is becoming clear that those who are able to adapt to the new realities will survive while others who only manage to get back to their pre-Covid status will at best have an uncertain future.
We at BluSky Services have long recognized this imperative and implemented the necessary steps in plenty of time. Since our training activities had been one of the major revenue sources, we started by re-creating our classroom courses for on-line, remote delivery. Advanced Airport Operations, Collaborative Decision Making and the SMART Airport Operations Control Center were the first to see the light of day as specially adapted on-line courses. The same amount of knowledge, but delivered in a way that fits the on-line format, the shorter sessions and the need to keep the participants engaged from beginning to end… just like in a classroom.
Demand for these courses is big, not least because it is possible to offer the courses at a lower price and it is possible to organize the courses with fewer participants and still earn money on them.
Last week we did get a nice compliment, when at the end of a course one of the participants said that for him, the remote course felt just like a classroom delivery.
We are using the excellent conferencing tool Webex from Sysco. Our instructors have been given a one day training session on the use of the tool and apparently they are able to deliver the course as it was intended.
Our CORRECT package was designed from the ground up to fit the post-COVID world, providing guidance and tips for a CORRECT recovery from the crisis.
Perhaps the most significant is SAMS, the Smart Airport Management Solution. Recognizing that in the post-COVID era, capacity is secondary to efficiency, SAMS proposes an airport management solution that does away with the outdated concept of the Airport Operational Data Base (AODB), replacing it with a service oriented, highly flexible solution, rich in available functionality at a very attractive price. SAMS is able to grow with the demands created by the progressing recovery.
Finally, we have just finished the updating of a client’s course study book. It was an interesting exercise, especially when we got to the parts that talked about the biggest crisis the aviation industry had ever faced. No, they were not referring to COVID, this was all about 9/11! The chapter had to be re-written, of course, with COVID claiming to be the biggest ever crisis for the aviation industry…
