A FREE add-on to one of our programs... to do the right thing!

I just received the first phone call ☎️ that my envelope with our big news inside arrived. Congratulations and compliments well accepted 🙏🏻, thank you very much.

In the run-up to this Global Quality week, we also had a close look 🔎 at how we help our customers.

And after we added an extra service to our Supplier Verification Program (SVP) last year, we found something in our Call-an-Expert+ program (CaE+) we must further improve. 💪🏻

We listened to you and reflecting on that, we recognized ourselves: sometimes you write something down to ask next time you talk to your coach. A small, not urgent thing you don't want to bother your coach with to have an immediate answer. And within our CaE+, these notes could get lost 😩.

To all quality professionals out there: Have a Great Global Quality Week! 🎉

The theme this year is: "Quality Conscience – Doing the Right Thing"

Reflect on how you operate, are you doing the right things? 🤔

We made that exercise and saw we could improve: it was not an easy exercise to do, as we were consciously looking for our weak spots 🫣.

We use this Global Quality Week to kick of some actions, reflecting the outcome of our exercise.

Last Saturday, I brought about 200 personalized envelopes ✉️ to the post office and they will be sent to people in 17 different countries. I truly hope that a lot of them will grab the opportunity I'm offering them for free. When you're in Australia, it might take a bit longer to receive it 🤣.

On Thursday 10 November, Global Quality Day, I will share the above with all of you on my feed (with the same opportunity).

A generic quality policy won’t give you the handles you need! 🤷🏼‍♂️

And it won’t help you positioning quality as a contributor to the purpose of the company.🤔

It is essential to link 🔗 the quality policy to the vision and mission of the organization.

When doing this, you make clear HOW quality will contribute to the long-term mission and vision of the company.

And as every company mission and vision will be unique, so must be your quality policy. 💡

From the policy, you define the processes needed to make it happen. And the performance of these processes can be measured in process indicators.

These process indicators show how well quality is contributing 📊 to the mission and vision of the company. And the most important process indicators can be defined as Key Performance Indicators.

These data can be used to demonstrate the added financial value of quality to the business.💰

Both as a quality manager and a CEO/General Manager, having a clear knowledge on how quality is contributing to the business is a necessity.

You can’t drive on an empty tank 🤷🏼‍♂️.

That’s what I experienced myself last weekend: not a drop of energy left. 😓

So, I did absolutely nothing on Saturday and Sunday

to make sure I have sufficient fuel for this week.

But something big is coming up,

and I find it worth giving all I have to it. 💪🏻

That’s also the reason I was not able to add much value through this channel lately.

Give me a couple of more weeks

before I will reveal what is now

My own little-big secret.🤫

In the meantime, I will pick up

adding value around quality management.

Woohoo, I’m a student👨🏻‍🎓!

Last Saturday, my hobby baking 👨🏼‍🍳classes started again: the soft kind of breads like brioche and raisinbread this time.

It’s not the first baking class I’m attending… I guess it’s number 5 already.

And I don’t want to brag, but I think I’m not a bad pâtissier: the picture is a dessert I made last Easter.

So, the teacher asked me why I still came to the classes if I was already that experienced 🤷🏼‍♂️?

Because I never want to stop learning the tips and tricks from professionals who have been or are doing this day in day out.

It adds on to my level of expertise.

The brioche bread 🍞 I made was not good, but I was coached on what I did wrong, and I won’t make that mistake again.

It’s the same with staying relevant as a quality manager.

You need to keep learning new skills.

And I’ve heard the excuse about 20 times already in the last couple of months: Bart, due the current economic circumstances I won’t get any money for training 😭.

There I was… at the ER last Friday evening 🤕

Why they gave me a red bracelet (urgent help needed)? I don’t have a clue 🤷🏼‍♂️!

It was not something life threatening: I had a terrible pain in my back and couldn’t move anymore.

4 (four) hours later, that’s how urgent it was, I was back home after a shot with a painkiller, something to relax my muscles and a list of prescriptions.

Could it have been avoided?

Probably: I already had some pain in my back for about 2 weeks, but I kept on going. And at a certain moment my body decided: “OK, that’s it: I’ve had it 😖”.

I could have consulted a doctor or a physiotherapist days ago, but I didn’t.

The same goes with quality issues: you see them popping up every now and then, you solve them, and you keep going. 🧯the firefighting syndrome.

You don’t take the time to deep dive into the issues, do some proper root cause analysis and… voilà: there is your big quality issue, in worst case a recall.

Don’t postpone reaching out to an expert to help you out: there are plenty of resources/consultants available, although I would prefer you talk to me first of course 😉.

I’m not sure I’m the best person to help you, but then I can certainly guide you into the right direction or point you to the person who can help you.

My DMs are open: it’s better to prevent the fire from happening than firefighting a whole building that’s on fire.
